"You can plan to create new oil, but the process takes 50 million years."
Why would it take that long? How inefficient is your oil production plant?
Hydrocarbons is still the best way to move energy around. And the molecule is basically carbon and hydrogen. No crazy elements needed. Why not make our own?
The reason this hasn't been looked into, is because it's far cheaper to mine it out of the ground or extract it from coal and shale. Assuming those processes become impossibly expensive, then making our own using production plants powered by renewable energy, or even nuclear, is a distinct possibility.
You're absolutely right. Which is why they didn't Ban Burqas.
You're simply not allowed to wear a Burqa in a situation where someone is required to view your face.
"A ban could make it impossible for women who wear the burqa to receive any public services, from buying a bus ticket to picking up a child at school."
Things like a Driver License, which is a photo ID.
The point is that the Christian church has not got enough power to call holy wars on things they don't like...
How do you know?
Yes, they can't do it like they did in the old days, through the power of the Kings. But it seems to me that the only reason you don't see them declaring a Holy War on anyone is because they simply haven't. Not because they can't.
Boy, you're going to be pissed when the IRS comes after you then.
If they had to generate more revenue, who do you think they'll go after? People who struggle against them and try to hide their income, or the people who just pay up?
Yep. To get everything out of Eve, you have to treat it like a second job. Not like something you can pop on and have some fun for 20 minutes, then leave.
Which is why I stopped playing Eve and switched to TF2.
You have a lot of theory, but I don't see what you're talking about in my life.
Less "Buying power"? Well, so what? That only affects the luxury goods at this point. Things I can (and should) be living without.
I have no problem buying a used car. Living in a small place until I need it. And I'm definitely never moving to NY or CA because of the cost of living there.
You can enjoy life a lot more if you stop worrying about things to buy and taking care of the things you bought.
Can we call it Socialism now?
It would be great if it were that honest.
Some dictators starve their populace on purpose to receive foreign aid.

If they're quite liberal, then they won't care about the posting of Mohammad on Facebook.
It would be good to get some of that perspective, lest /. falls into some sort of Muslim-hating trap...
Oh no! Not the Muslim-hating trap! For once the site falls into that trap it will permanently be... uh... what happens again?
You might want to cut back on your rhetoric.

Hint, they'll go after the easier people.
"Close. We're outgrowing unregulated capitalism..."
And by the 5th word of your post, you've demonstrated you have no clue as what you're talking about.
I'll list just ONE of the many regulation bodies in the US that businesses must obey. FDA.
Go peddle your Totalitarianism somewhere else.
Only if we're outgrowing "Charging people for the work that you do".
Short of the Singularity, I don't see that happening.
You trade the freedom to murder anyone you like for freedom from being murdered yourself.
Interestingly enough, you have the freedom to kill or be killed.
The difference is what the words "Kill" and "Murder" mean.
I second that. The Hangover was a surprisingly cool movie.
Really? Not showing any Patriotism at all when you're running for the President of the U.S. is "Nothing of substance"?
Teabaggers want more regulation?
No they don't. Perhaps you mistyped and meant "I am a big government moron."
Also known as a Democrat.

Because the "Big boys" don't have chip manufacturing plants, they have hard drive platter plants.
It's quite a change, snd they don't even know if SSDs will surpass platters.
"while the children from Texas will believe that there is no USSR/soviet union"
Um, did it come back? Last I heard, USSR collapsed almost 20 years ago.
pffft.
The conclusions of their 10 year study were crystal clear. "Send us more money to do another 10 year study."
"I'm amazed you haven't invoked your right to use those arms you bear yet."
On who? Running around in an angry mob is pretty much useless.
The price was what I had a problem with.
It was estimated the phone cost 180$ to make. If they were selling them for 360$ I would have bought one by now.
530$ is far too much for something that might last two years.
Are you saying that oil platforms are *unregulated*?
Because if not, that means they're regulated, and this happened. What's your solution then? More regulation?
How much fail do you wish to apply before you realize you're using fail?
Correct.
It's the same reason why the police like to bust pot smokers. It's easy and not dangerous.
How is that scary?
Now you know what's coming. You should be relieved to be so prepared.
You're right. I hope you're not saying that anything like that is in the AZ bill, because it's not.
They modeled the bill after the unenforced Federal law. It's perfectly legal.
Wow, those markets were totally free and unregulated?
Oh wait, they weren't. So, your regulated markets failed, the solution must be...more regulations and laws! Brilliant!
