    If we can't make fission plants work, there's no way we'll make fusion work.

    I use a client for my linux box, which I keep on 24/7. The problem is that some hosts won't allow that client to connect!

    I set the upload limit to 80% of my total upload bandwidth so I can do other things, plus share. But for too many seeds I end up having to use my mindless windows client which uses all my upload bandwidth.

    I have to kill the thing every time I want to use my VoIP phone. :-P

    Well, insurance.

    The mall has insurance. Those people should have insurance, if not, then oh well.

    Normally the guys with the rocket would pay, but as you pointed out, they have no money.

    They're going to redo the movie into HD format to take advantage of the extra space.

    I can see TV shows taking advantage of the blu-ray disks to put out seasons.

    What I want to know is how the machines build anything. All Skynet has at this point are the flying robots and the battle robots. Neither of them can do anything along the lines of picking up a screwdriver.

    According to the DOE report "Total net generation of electric power in August 2004 was 366.3 terawatthours"

    Just for August!

    So, Google says 11 square miles is 28,489,869.2 square meters.

    So it's 366,300,000,000 watt hours, divided by 28,489,869.2 sq meters = 12,857 watthours per square meter for the month of August.

    Checking the Naval obserivitory data, it there's about 13.5 average hours of sunlight in August.

    Dang, at this point I'm stumped. I figure we would put these in the best spot in the US, New Mexico. But I can't find any good data for average sunlight power. All the solar sites use estimates.

    Woah, not only is coal cheap, it's a bargin! Can you imagine how much it would cost to illegally destroy thousands of acres of Appalachian hardwood forests and hundreds of miles of streams?

    And they do it free of charge!

    There aren't any because the companies aren't hiring US grads, not becuase of the wage or the hours.

    Sheesh, look at the EA game programmers. They're working a ton of hours.

    If Employee A did the same things as employee B would you give them both big raises?

    Or would you simply rewrite their jobs to include those "Extra" things as part of the job and then give them basic cost of living raises.

    The job postings are much better than they were a few years ago. But the majority are still "Want to hire someone who knows everything."

    What puzzled me the most, was that even after the Democrats lost in the 2000 election, there was no publicised drive to improve the voting process.

    Al Gore? Looks like he was happy with things the way they were.

    When Nixon lost to Kennedy in the Illinois elections due to rigged voting, he went and fixed it.

    So, this means one of two things.

    1. The level of corruption with voting is small enough not to worry about.
    2. The Democrats don't want an honest voting system.
