So I'm supposed to be content with the first 99 cent sale on an app, and then give it away for free forever? Some of us don't get paychecks. We get paid by selling what we dream up, invest time and money in, and create, all at considerable risk of not getting paid at all either because nobody wants what we make, or people steal it instead of paying. Not everybody turns their copyrights over to publishers. You guys are using RIAA's evil actions to justify ripping off all us independents.
It's incredible the logical knots you people twist yourselves into to justify theft. Yes, THEFT. I'm not buying any of that "but the guy I ripped off still has his property" horse shit. You don't want to pay for it, then don't use it. Nobody's holding a gun to your head. There is plenty of free content out there to amuse yourself with.
Which in turn has inspired me to not bother bringing games to Android. I wasn't aware there were ad blockers available, and I had been planning on bringing games over from iOS and using the ad supported model to get around the reluctance to purchase endemic in Android users. It's kind of a relief, actually I was not looking forward to dealing with the fragmentation and support issues.
It really looks like Android is doomed to apps made by hobbyists.
If it's half the price of an iPad, maybe it's worth it, but the Android tablets I've had my hands on are glitchy, unresponsive, and have serious touch screen issues. Hopefully Google will get its act together in the next couple years.
As it stands, the current generation iPads are less responsive than first gen iPod touches. It's sad, given the superior hardware.
Multitouch doesn't work right. Even single touch is fidgety and glitchy. Interactivity is rough... lots of hitches in animations, complete multi-second freezes for no apparent reason, allowing of apps to take over and drag everything down. I have a few different Android devices, and on every one of them I have to yank the battery every couple of weeks to get them un-stuck.
It's nowhere close to as polished as iOS. For a techy user that knows how to deal with these issues and enjoys the openness, it's fine. For Joe Anyuser, it's a pale imitation of iOS.
I've created an art installation that consists...

The thing about a tablet is you have to hold the thing. You can't just set it on your lap, or on a table unless you prop it up somehow. A netbook has a built in kickstand that doubles as a keyboard and screen protector. Add a touch screen and you've pretty much eliminated any advantage a tablet has.
...to the ridiculous lengths people will go to to justify theft? Seriously, there is free software for every niche, and gigatons of free movies and music. If you don't want to pay, load up on all the free stuff that's there for the taking.
Oh.. quality isn't good enough for you? Then fork out the dough.
"Complaints of piracy are utterly disconnected from reality, at this point it's just a boogeyman used by companies to justify the need for taking more rights away from the consumer."
Actually, we'd just like to get paid for our work, so we can pay our bills and make more and better games. We have no desire to enslave humanity.
Either that, or earn some more money to by the stuff you want. I sell games for 7 bucks. If you can't scrape that up, you seriously need to find some work.

I made it. I get to decide who uses it. Period.
I'd like to share your paycheck with my children and grandchildren. It's SO unfair that I cant!

Bull. Fucking. Shit.
They have the hardware, but the UI is glitchy, jerky, and responds to touch very unevenly.
The dual core tablets are pretty damn slow and jerky. I can't imagine what the single cores must be like.
...would be my choice if I had an electric car.

Maybe kitty will come along soon and bury it.
Will Naugtius Maximus be a major character in this one?
So it's ok.

The more I listen to Pandora, the more cool indie artists I discover. I won't miss the Warner catalog at all.
The more they tighten their grasp, the more of us listeners slip through their fingers.
