The current availability of Cortana's services [microsoft.com] is pitiful
Clicked on that link and actually it's pretty good. It covers like 80%+ of the world's population, and includes all the top 10 countries by economy. It's hardly universal but I would call the list very solid.
Cortana sucks, don't get me wrong, but that's not the reason why.
That's not what the article summary says, and that's not what anybody in these comments is claiming, so perhaps you should like work on your reading comprehension before calling other people gullible.
Like a decade ago, Yelp was accused of taking bribes-for-reviews and vigorously denied it, and it seems more likely some Yelp salesmen said it when it wasn't true. Whether you believe that or not, Yelp made their invisible reviews visible and of course if salesmen start openly claiming buying ads will help their reviews then customers would distrust Yelp. Somebody would be sure to record the interaction as well. It would kill Yelp's credibility and I really don't think they would do this except perhaps with a very large account where they could concievably keep it all secret.
I don't know anybody who DOESN'T use yelp. Despite its supposed problems you can feel safe knowing that a 4.5 star restaurant is way the fuck better than a 2.5 star review.
Google reviews has way less reviews than yelp. Here in the Bay Area Yelp has twice as many reviews as Google Maps (looking at a couple of restaurants that opened in the past few years). I'm sure they ultimately reach about the same conclusions, and for most restaurants with dozens of reviews it just comes down to personal preference. For smaller places with only a few reviews, though, you want the one that gets more reviews.
Remember when the government has Hans Reiser framed as a way to get back at him for developing ReiserFS? It seems a lot of Slashdot does, because they're posting basically the exact same shit for this story as they were for that one.
A quick look on truecar.com shows 2015 SEL egolfs selling for $15-$18K. Not at all bad for a car that was effectively selling for $21K new three years ago. Personally I am leasing an eGolf, and expect to net a few K by buying off the lease and selling it at the end of the lease. So for me I am very pleased with the used market.
OK it's true, really it's a $31K car that had a $10K subsidy. But the subsidy is still going on...it makes sense that it would depress the market for used electrics.
I fully expect that most cars will be electric within the not-too-distant future, and that electric cars are a good thing in terms of air pollution and less reliance on oil imports from shady countries. Tesla is an American car that is selling pretty well around the world. If ZEV policies help bring electric cars faster, then on some level these policies are a good thing.
Well it does have more horsepower (1000+!) and a better range. The interior seems eccentric but nice. It's slightly more expensive than the top version of the S. The company seems financially fucked but the car could very well be awesome.
Aside from my retired parents, I don't even know anybody who pays for cable, everybody Netflixes or Hulus or whatever. I wonder what the number would be if it didn't include people who get basic cable thrown in with the Internet?
All those cheapskates saving ten cents a day by getting some mid-range Android phone instead of an iPhone must be really regretting their decision right now.
This is stupid. People can receive measurable health benefits from wearables, while I doubt fitbit is getting rich from that "some guy did 6,800 steps today" money.
Right. Also electrical devices are all garbage, because during a storm the electricity gets knocked out. Plus, why by a house, when a hurricane could blow the roof off? Get with it sheeple! Now I won't buy anything unless it can be powered by hamsters in a wheel or sticking electrodes into a lemon.
This show is more of an authentic Star Trek than the recent movies, is a fun watch, and is approximately 300 times better than the first seasons of either Next Generation or DS9.
God damn I remember people on Slashdot bitching after episode #1&2 that SJW this and Gamergate that - a female crew member named "Michael" was obviously a concession to, I don't know, transexuals or ungendered bathrooms or something.
Yes. This is why all the talk about "I want to support the artist, not the studio" is such claptrap. Much of popular music is a studio product, after all.
But from a biological standpoint, no one can say that it can scientifically be positively correlated to the replication of the species
You repeatedly speak in absolutes ("noone can say" - "biologically homosexuality is bad") when there isn't cause for it and there certainly isn't a scientific consensus. You imagine a PC agenda propagating homosexuality as good for the species, when that really makes no sense.
Homosexuality is common throughout nature. While biological dead ends do make it through the process of evolution for a long time, homosexuality is so endemic that it seems that it must have some positive impact on the species, or it would have evolved out. The theory isn't there, but empirically nature has shown it to be true.
Not really. If Toyota releases a mid-range commuter car you can assume it will be reliable due to the company's history and that the vehicle is based on established technology. Likewise, if Ford releases a fuel-cell sports car, you can assume it will be less reliable.
Microsoft has a history of making shoddy hardware, and the fact that they've upgraded the latest model doesn't mean they get to start with a completely clean slate.
Similarly, if the highlight of your life is your drive to work, you must have just about the most life imaginable - which would explain why you take out your bitterness by being an asshole on a technology website.
The sort of person who lives at point A, and works at point B, and has to get up in the morning to drive the same route from A to B and then later in the day drives from B to A every day. Driving is an hour and a half a day (mostly) wasted. If I could sleep or work or jerk it for an extra hour and a half every single workday, I feel like my quality of life would be improved. Just that alone would be an extra 400 hours/year.
That's absurd. Trains full works great for a city like London or cities in the US already serviced by trains. It makes no sense at all even for the Bay Area, and then when you get to flyover states - WTF, who would full trains coming by every two minutes make sense for the typical US small city with extended suburbs?
The new Android Tablet? Is this supposed to impress people? Who used those? Weren't Android tablets for people who were curious about iPads but just got a cheaper, shittier version instead?

The 9th circuit did say it would be legal for Yelp to do so, and as a company that seems reasonable to me. Yelp says that they do not do that, and I think there is at least some burden of proof on the accuser.

And his forth mistake was not being Christian, and being eternally damned in the afterlife.

I am American and let me tell you my jimmies are ruffled right now. Excellent troll 10/10.
Also, why do we park on driveways, and drive on parkways?
All those cheapskates saving ten cents a day by getting some mid-range Android phone instead of an iPhone must be really regretting their decision right now.
Why is it that most successful people are Christians, and most people who post long screeds about religion to internet technology forums are atheist?

All the empty buses in Indian would be a huge problem if such a thing actually existed. Driver salaries are not high. Taxis are everywhere.
Why are you posting on a subject you clearly know absolutely nothing about?
Yes. This is why all the talk about "I want to support the artist, not the studio" is such claptrap. Much of popular music is a studio product, after all.

Most people above the age of 27 don't live in apartment complexes any more.
