    20 odd replies & still no one can point to studies showing the deterrent effect. I've studied this in great depth - I'm a solicitor, post-grad in criminology. There ARE no reputable studies showing the deterrent effect.

    Sure - in theory. In practice they'll have to know which dictionary to use (how many clueless newbies knnow about Google's dictionary) and then that dictionary has to define the term.

    I mean, even if you knew about define:foo in Google, define:0wn3d comes up with no results.

    At dictionary.com, neither term gets a definition.

    But I reckon the best place to trial this kind of tech is in retirement villiages using fleets of golf-carts (or similar). The vehicles don't move very fast, they're in a bounded environment, it's a known environment, and it would provide a useful service that people might actually pay for. Have the fleet cruise around slowly when empty, be summonable by voice or computer, use voice recognition and you're away.

    Can anyone else find another source? Ideally a link to austlii with the judgement, but any other report would do.
