This would have been a lot better if he just made jet noises, and a plane shape out of his hand, and after going.. boom and thrusting his hand forward exclaimed.. "And that's how I broke the sound barrier!"
Dear Patent Office,
I am happy to help you figure out which patents are valid.. I assure you that all of the patents of my competitors are not, and will mark them accordingly.
Love,
Business taking advantage of the stupidity of the patent office.
In a free society you have the choice to be stupid... If you take away that choice then its no longer a free society.
Wrong. Your right to be stupid ends where the rights of other people begin. That's why it's not illegal to get shitfaced drunk but it's illegal to drive in that condition.
You still have every right to make a stupid decision. It doesn't mean there are not consequences for those decisions. For example is it a stupid decision to buy small magnetic desk toys (e.g. BuckyBalls, Zen Magnets). In and of itself the answer is clearly no; however, a child may swallow them, and get injured (which is clearly the parents fault). So the solution should be to eliminate the magnetic desk toys from the market therefore insuring that you cannot make a stupid decision such as letting your children swallow magnetic toys. When you try and legislate away rights to prevent stupidity you end up with stupidity inevitably (e.g. banning magnetic desk toys. This is a real example as the CPSC in the US is attempting to ban this right now. Visit http://savemagnets.com/ if you want to sign the petition to allow me to be stupid if I wish with my magnetic desk toys.
Ultimately you have the right to make a decision, and society has a right to enforce the consequences of that decision.
This is why vaccinations need to be mandatory. If you want to live in society, you have to follow society's rules and that includes rules that keep you from putting others at serious risk.
Wow what a slippery slope that is... So for instance should H1N1 vaccinations be required? What about flu shots? If everyone got the flu shot we would likely run out before the high risk people (the young and elderly) had a chance to get it. Not to mention the potential side effects of many vaccines.
Personally I and my children are vaccinated for everything I consider a serious disease (polio, etc.), but not H1N1 for instance because the chance of death is practically non-existent.
In a free society you have the choice to be stupid... If you take away that choice then its no longer a free society.
I cant speak for LA, but I know in Philadelphia the move on most of the lights between green - yellow - red was roughly 1 second of yellow... its almost impossible to not run a red light there...There actually are several cities other than Philly who have intentionally shortened duration of the yellow light to get more of these tickets.
My name used to get emails all the time from the Veterans administration with medical records and all for a guy with the same name as me (I owned my name as a domain).. I contacted them and told them... they never did anything about it.. now I just filter them out.
If this was any other business I would agree 100% that they shouldn't have such a ruling forced onto them. In this case however the airlines accept a large amount of government money every year. If you are going to accept the government money when its offered you have to play by their rules.
Why does your website only say Error establishing a database connection? This seems an odd way to sell music.
Slashdot 101 - Beef up your webserver prior to doing a interview:-)
Love your music BTW.
But by copying the money you would put more into circulation which more or less devalues the money which means you are stealing from the value of other money...
Of course the US government does this everyday anyhow...
At this point I really dont care who is at fault.. I just hope my state (and others) finally move to succeed... This whole thing is so broken it can no longer be fixed... Would there be a civil war? Its possible, but we fought to free ourselves from tyranny before (and back then it was tea that pushed us to far). We can always do it again... I'll sit hit quietly though for the moment and wait to be flamed and modded down for having given up on this travesty of a government.
At the end of the day this boils down to plain and simple theft. Verizon and AT&T (and their customers via bills) have put respectively very large capitol investments in their networks. Now they are being forced to allow other carriers who did not make these investments access to their private property. The cost of maintenance and other such elements will not be accurately passed on to these smaller carriers, and as a result Verizon and AT&T subscribers will pay more... If the government wants to compete in the wireless space so badly why don't they go build their own network funded by tax dollars, and then compete that way rather than stealing money from private industry. For the record.. I don't believe the government should be involved in any of this, and instead they should allow capitalism to work as intended.. If the space wasn't already so locked down (due to the less than open FCC control of spectrum and auctioning process) then we wouldn't have been in this non competitive environment in the first place.
So let me get this straight... the FCC... basically the watchdog of the communication world... put its site on Terramark's cloud... which was purchased by..... wait for it..... Verizon... the very people they watch.

If we weren't constantly prying into everyones daily life, and insisting we have some moral or social responsibility to pay for each others well being we wouldn't have a problem. Frankly from my point of view being fat is *less* detrimental to ones health than consuming heavily chemically altered foods. In regards to smokers paying for smoking... they do... its taxed to death.. every time they are buying a pack they pay money in to the communal pot... so even if you do subscribe to the socialist view that its your responsibility they are in fact already paying it...
I recall that hole... it was back when the towers simply accepted the phones "word" that the call was a emergency... as such it was routed with the priority of a emergency call. The fix was simple... verify the phone told the truth by checking the terminating number.
This just further shows how ridiculously disorganized the US is... in the same time frame that the US attacks and basically restricts wikileaks they announce this event... absolutely hilarious.
It doesn't have to be that complex though... a simple interception of input devices is really all that is required.... Since that input is first processed at the hypervisor layer... plus in this model they are violating rule #1 by allowing conduits for the VM's to share application knowledge... such as the combined SMS/MMS inbox...
Its false security though. You are assuming that the apps you install on your side of the phone cant find a way to attack the hypervisor to gain control of it. If you install a app on the personal side of the phone that is malicious, and is tailored to attack the hypervisor then in theory it could get any data it would need... The only true security here is two separate phones.
This actually sounds... Like a great idea to have two numbers reach the same phone.
My worry is the battery consumption will go through the roof (on a piece of technology that already doesn't have the greatest battery life times) and that computing resources will be in short supply on a mobile device (which brings us back to power consumption).
Honestly the ability to have 2 phones numbers tied to one device has been around for a long time, well before Android entered the scene. Most phones support a dual NAM configuration that allowed this very feature. The only difference is the text messages, and what line the call was coming in on was not always made very clear. The only thing that is new here is separating the work and play environments at the O/S level. I'm not sure if this is really going to provide any true security...
It was clearly a known test. CBS didnt do their homework. This was sent to pilots:
"NOTAM for LA.
KZLA LOS ANGELES A2832/10 - THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS ARE REQUIRED DUE TO NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER WEAPONS DIVISION ACTIVATION OF W537. IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, ALL NON-PARTICIPATING PILOTS ARE ADVISED TO AVOID W537. IFR TRAFFIC UNDER ATC JURISDICTION SHOULD ANTICIPATE CLEARANCE AROUND W537 AND CAE 1176. CAE 1155 WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR OCEANIC TRANSITION. CAE 1316 & CAE 1318 WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR OCEANIC TRANSITION. CAE 1177 WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR OCEANIC TRANSITION. W537 ACTIVE, CAE 1176 CLOSED. SURFACE - FL390, 09 NOV 20:00 2010 UNTIL 10 NOV 01:00 2010. CREATED: 08 NOV 20:52 201"
You don't warn pilots before launching the missile you don't know about:-)
Frankly Ive had a lot of interns work for me, or I have mentored them at some point, and Ill tell you the ones I liked the best are the ones that focused on the politics, and relationship side of the work. It is assumed you have the technical skill from school, self taught etc. to even get in the door; however, its understood that you don't understand the dynamics of working with a corporation, and the politics that come with it.(Took me years to get that) Bottom line.. use the time to learn what you CANT get at a school.
I don't see how this can ever catch on. If I have to control the car with my hands, how exactly am I supposed to text while driving and not paying attention to the road?
Best comment ever.. wish I had mod points...

You couldnt have been more right.. it always comes down to a patent pool which is the worst thing that could happen. (e.g. see MPEGLA)
