My understanding is that it's easy to spread READ ONLY postgres load accross multiple servers. WRITING is a bottleneck with postgresql though because it enforces consistency, while other DBs like couch kick the consistency can down the road to the application. But I haven't seriously looked into it in years.
FIFY. I've been around the world and in my experience people from other countries know as little about the USA as people from the USA know about other countries. Also America is a pair of continents, not a country. Canada, Mexica, and Brazil are all in "America".
Canada is more susceptible because they are closer to the north pole where charged solar particles are drawn in by the earth's magnetic field. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A...
Last 6 years? The economy has been stagnated long before that. We had declining job growth since roughly 2005 and wages haven't kept pace for nearly 2 decades.
Word for word this short essay served to improve my coding more than any other document, and not just in C. Most of the essay is applicable to any language. Pike elegently and concisely explains the most important principles of good code style and software architecture. The sections "Programming with data" and "Function pointers" are particularly sailent. The section "Complexity", also known as "Rob's Rules", is outstanding and ought to be burned into the brain of every software developer. It's a free online classic and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. http://www.lysator.liu.se/c/pi...
A typical oceanographic trawl winch will part 9/16" steel rope like it was nothing, which requires a force of about 27,000 lbs, and the ship doesn't even notice.
Yeah you could shoot yourself in the foot and use PICs or you could come to the light of AVR with it's higher speed and full support for doing dev with the GNU toolchain on Linux from 8 to 32 bits.
One last thing that just about no one knows about. All of the major news outlets proclaimed Florida to Gore before voting was finished in Florida. Florida resides in two time zones and the northwest "handle" of Florida is heavily Republican. Many voters left lines while voting was open once Florida was called for Gore. IF that hadn't have happened, the recount wouldn't have been close at all.
If that's really true, well, those folks who walked out have nobody to blame but themselves.
The main thing I like about an actual IGNITION SWITCH vs. some sort of software controlled engine start/stop button is the ability to actually turn the engine off without any software in the loop. Guess that's something I'll have to retrofit into my future cars.
I was BEGGING for this service a few years back when I was spending extended periods at sea. I'm sure anybody who goes on extended overseas trips would love it.
This. The NPR article seems misleading. They stopped him based on the 911 call. Which seems reasonable to me. If some moron is driving like a fool I'd really like to cops to stop him. The probable cause for the SEARCH was due to the marijuana smell. I don't think this ruling is a broad as it's being made out to be.

I bought one. A week later my wife spilled soda on it. Turned out it was pretty much impossible to salvage. I was disappointed by it's lack of servicability vs. a real Model M. You spend that kind of money on a keyboard you might expect it to survive a soda or at least be repairable.
I can confirm from experience that an IBM 3270 terminal is practically indestructable. Standing on a loading dock I picked one up over my head and threw it as hard as I could down into an empty metal dumpster at ground level. The result? A small crack in the housing.

Hurrrr! Get off my lawn!
That's the point. Guillotine don't care. Guillotine doesn't give a shit.
Can you really say that Keanu Reaves is an actor?
I think I may have misunderstood but how the hell does a browser load images before loading the html that tells it what images to load?
The ignorance of people is astonishing.

Because Canada is tilted more towards the sun than we are, they are more susceptible.
O_o
Canada is tilted about as far away from the sun as populated areas on earth get. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T...

2 decades? More like four. Wages flatlined in the early 70's.

I see a business opportunity in installing aftermarket ignition kill switches.

Does it finally have vsplit?
Put 'em back in the landfill where they belong. Or better yet in an incincerator.
You've heard of radio direction finding, right? Just stay out of the ham bands.

What does that have to do with search engines?

I remember Archie. And Veronica. And I just got the references after all these years.
