i second that. until i heard of this "name clash" firebird database was non existent in the eyes of many. i'm not for the phoenix name change but, firebird will serve it's purpose as a name for a great project.
i'm not saying that gentoo is PERFECT, what i am saying is that systems like it have the idea right. a user doesn't wanna worry about solving dependencies, something that rpm based systems do not do.
i'm glad. i don't like rpm based distributions. i've had so many headaches due to rpm.... grrr.... what we need is more source based distros like gentoo. then we'll be talking.
yes, i believe as well that this is ironic and probably the case. since adobe has ported it's code to a unix (mac os x), in time it will be expected to port their code to other unixes (such as linux, and BSDs, as well as maybe IRIX). saying winblows... i mean windows is the perfered platforms just makes it easier on them and buys them more time for the eventual and i guess probable porting.
all of you are correct in saying that i have no need for this. however, the average person doesn't need this either. yes it's great for military, hazmat teams, fire departments, hell even police officers, but the fact of the matter is, if you have data that needs to be backed up, you shouldn't rely on it being ONLY on your laptop. that's just insane.
the fact that you can buy 4 new laptops equivalent in speed, ram, hdd space, etc almost makes it not worth while. i think i'd take 4 new notebooks than one that's heavy clunky and extremely well designed.
but hey, what do i know, my laptop weighs 9 lbs and never leaves my house.
well, you could get directions using a service like avis or something... then they just need to be analyzed and interpretted...
question: what happens if the car is perfect and gets stuck in a traffic jam due to an accident... does this count against the perfectly build robot?
perl is not just a web language. what you say is very true for web based stuff. however, as far as scripting is concerned for system administration and just "having fun" you can't beat it. there are many things i don't agree with in the perl world but all in all it's great.
the fact that you can download 1 copy of most any distributions and make copies of it til your spindle runs dry, and deal not with commercial liscensing alone saves lots and lots of money. and along with that, most computer savy people (even windows people, face it most linux people came from windows backgrounds) can pick up linux by reading a few books and be functional. thats not to say their network is EXTREMELY secure, but there are linux security books out there too. anyway the point is that most schools are going to have a(many) computer professionals working in the district. paying for a few books, or even a few classes, and a few cds, will save alot of money. also the ability to revive older hardware means, that the schools can get even more use out of that pentium 233 lab they still have (theoretical). upgrading to win2000 just wouldn't be efficient. however, upgrading to is much much more efficient.
it's ridiculous for a company to fire a person or not hire a person due to bad credit. the idea is baffling. without a job, their credit will become worse, since it's harder to pay for things withouta job obviously.
the fact is, my girlfriends dad was fired for this same reason. he was struggling after losing his business, couldn't find a worthy replacement, and when he finally did, wasn't hired, because of his credit. though he was able to go to the training seminars, etc etc... before finding out. what bs.
it'd be very cool to setup a whole network of these guys and run fully off of these. imagine the space and electricity companies could save. imagine the nfs shares you could setup for mp3s in your bathroom on your laptop. mmm.. the possibilities.
ok... so, you're saying that vms isn't secure without a smart administrator? give me one system that is secure without a smart administrator? try leaving telnet open, or an unupdated ssh or leaving any system on a network and not being smart. of course you have to be smart.
once eek! the cat was gone, it just went downhill. anyone know where i can find eek! the cat?
live free or die.
this is an obviously live "free."
is obsolete.

isnt there the key word LICENSE in End User LICENSE Agreement?
"nazi" ... ahh forget it. obviously you're intellect doesn't allow you to see joke context.
RMS would be mad at you for creating such a bad story. to think free software nazi RMS supporting shared source? i don't think so.
it's a ruse. that date is there for trickery purposes only.... and obviously it's working!

thanks for the info.

with his bad acting skills and stunning good looks, i'm most definatly a candidate!

i can just see commercials. DIGI-AXE! new from Gibson!
shared source is a step in the right direction. i'm just not sure which direction.

what a waste of a perfectly good apple. everyone knows you don't bake apples without cinnamon and suger!
