i must say i have grown to hate ie. even right now, i'm using communicator 4.7 (ugh... ) but, i'm at school where everything is windows... and ie 6.0, if ie were to handle css and web standards as well as a certain other (mozilla) browser does, i would probably run vmware just to use ie.. (linux at least). my experience with osX is very minimal so it could possibly be the best one to handle those technologies. unfortunatly, it probably does it's own thing... and makes your experience sh1tty
well, actually vi isn't really basic. it's very very complex to be honest. though, pico is DEFINATLY an easy to use editor. someone should make a version of pico for X or something. maybe call it, "notepad" that way, all of these notepad fans will switch to a *nix and we'll rid the world of a few more m$ followers. hehe. (maybe that makes some sense..)
yes, but from a designer's point of view, changing the scroll bar gives the designer the ability to hid a scrollbar into a picture. just think of having a picture of tux, with scrollable text in it... how ugly would that be? now, change the scrollbars to be all black without the 3d look, except for white arrows, and suddenly it doesn't look so damn bad. it doesn't provide a function for the end user, but for a designer, it makes their site look better (in some cases). it also makes the use of frames look better again!(again, in some cases)
first off, what information are you displaying? if you're an artist and are using your website to inform potential clients, you would most certainly want to be creative with a design. take for instance 33mhz.com now this guy is an artist in the graphic design, etc. he needs his site to be creative and original, since that is what will get him clients. for a personal site, you should be personal. if it's personal, you shouldn't have to think about what everyone else thinks, if they want to view it, they'll deal with whatever YOU the artist, create.
