I hear a new package is about to be released. It's called OpenGenocide. Just right for the money conscience dictator that needs to keep track of his various genocides. You can sort by ethnicity, sex, age, region, religion, body count, whatever. It even has stats and an online function where you can compete with other dictators. Another cool thing is the 'Fantasy Geonocide' feature where you can assemble your dream team of dictators, generals and warlords both live and dead (and even fictional!) and see how the fair against others in the league. It takes some practice though. (hint don't put Idi Amin and Pol Pot on the same team. They have conflicting politics.)
Perhaps I should have been more clear. What I meant was, that I would feel sad to see the product die. Not the loss of my job. I put a lot of emotional effort into it, much of it long before the company took it over. The product is very good, our customers love it and most likely it will not be the product that sinks the company. The main problem now is not enough money for marketing and bad business decisions.
To remember writing the first lines of code in my shitty apartment, to seeing it grow and mature into a full fledged product, to seeing many people buy it and love it, then to see it disappear would be sad for me. I have no fear of not finding another job. In fact, I would surely make more money in another job.
I work at a software startup (well, three years old now.) Myself and one other person created the only product we sell. As most startups, we continue on the edge financially and the future is unclear. If we go under, I will be very, very sad to see it disappear.
The real question is, "How much could the Russians do it for"?
Maybe less, but then again, you can't put a price tag on lives and the Russian space program has killed at least 20 times as many people as the US's space program. Hell, one accident alone killed 148 people when a rocket blew up during launch.
Federico: How did you join OpenBSD?
CB: BRAINS!!! I want to EAT YOUR BRAINS!!!
Buckminster Fuller. Now that guy had balls.
NASA is getting into space things? That's odd.
Unless I am a complete idiot.
Bullshit. That's like saying if you broadcast pirate TV shows, noone would watch Survivor or American Idol.
Man 1: What do you do?
Man 2: I'm a FOSS developer
Man 1: Yeh... that, um, well... great.
Man 2: Got any spare change?

Longhorn will require a card that's at least ten times as powerful
and 1000 times larger and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own one.
The rush? Doesn't it want a card that is two or three generations beyond what is available today?
He should start now on that graphics card that longhorn will need.
The article also describes related problems with CD-Rs, CD-RWs and DVDs.
Good thing DVD -R and DVD+RWs aren't affected.
They don't last 10 seconds in the microwave.

Ultra fast access prOn!
It will be great for you since finally the picture will load before you shoot your load.
Pretty much supply and demand. Here is a good explanation

Oh did I mention it will be free still?
Even if Microsoft gave out their OS for free, there would still be costs associated with using it. TCO is more than just the cost of the OS.
An when Linux gets exploited, the people fix it for free and very quickly. Then the next person to download this FREE system is a-ok.
What? No. If/when Linux hits the mainstream desktop, it will have the same problems.
Happiness
And besides, Crichton doesn't write books, he writes screenplays. Look at almost any Crichton book - it's 90% dialog.
Oh, wait..

Yes, security through obscurity. A well thought out and totally effective strategy.
Not
And I 'not' your 'not'. Patching a hole quietly is not security through obscurity.
What the hell is with all this highschool crap on /.? /. become some place for high school loosers to hang out?
Since when did
Oh, since, well let me think...SINCE FOREVER!
