To save a small town you would need "people with jobs", that's where the "financial success" piece fits. When people move because of lack of jobs there can be no "financial success".
Some buildings are "dead zones" for both pagers and cell phones. The pager is a one shot transmission, with a cell you will get the text message when you come out of the basement.
YMMV by provider.
Usefull for who? At my company an up-date like that would render about 20,000 laptops useless over night. As was posted before, any up-dates have to be scrutinized before installation so that they play well with customized software.
the $99.95 TiVo/Directv reciever requires a disconnect from your current receiver service that would cost $250. At least that's what I saw in the fine print, correct me if I'm reading this wrong.

Maybe you could provide a CD with the updates. Have the students upgrade before they log on to the net. just a thought
You explained the Nextel PTT advantage very well.
It's all about quick communication, not a replacement for cell or land line communication.
If I can't resolve a problem using the Nextel PTT within a few minutes, I go for the cell.
I would add that the Icom R-3 is difficult to program. I would have like to seen more single propose instead of a few multi-funtion buttons.
Outlook Web Access is a nice backup system for e-mail, but it is not a replacement for SecurID and Exchange.
How does this get rated "Flamebait"? The poster is making good points.
I still have my cable boring tools and step ladder, maybe I should clean the garage.
I really apprieciate your efforts, it was a hoot in the day, I ran a Wildcat BBS, mostly for familiy.
I clearly remember the DUNGEON, it was my "go to" BBS. I'd check a few BBS's and end up at the DUNGEON.

They can track every tower that your cell phone makes contact with, you don't have to be on a call.

No, that's exactly what I wanted to hear! I've checked your link and you're correct. Thanks.
