actually one could write a really quick app in VB (or in C++ at a slightly slower pace) to create a MDI window and then reparent all the GIMP windows. You wouldn't even have to patch the GIMP (OTOH, this would quite obviously be a hack, and it would probably be better to patch the GIMP if one really wanted a MDI interface) If you are a seriously interested though, i could probably put something together.
Why does this joke get modded up every time an article on beer or america or both is posted? Ok ok, maybe its true, but I think it probably reached "In Soviet Russia" levels of saturation long before it even appeared on slashdot.
I bet it wouldbn't even be too hard to automate, it even has a special case for compressed files. (ie you could make a diff against the rpm itself and reinstall as opposed to fiddling with "live" files.)
Wow, "responsible consumer of type". Boggles the mind. Who knew there would be people encouraging us to boycott typefaces.

Its a different layer of abstraction. DisplayPDF is used to 'describe' the widgets, the window contents, etc. The OpenGL part is getting this information (in a rawer form, ie. pixels and textures, what have you) to the card. Its kinda like how the grpahics card cares very little about the internal representation of a JPEG file, it just draws the pixels sent to it. If Apple based their desktop on Jpegs (a really bad idea) they could still use OpenGL to render it.
So do you trust your ISP enough to do personal finacial stuff at home then? Do you trust your bank? Allright I am making this a little ridiculous, but you do have to draw a line somewhere.
Whoa, did someone lose their karma bonus or something? Someone on here has a sig: "Arguing with the moderators is like shouting at god, he's probably not listening, and if he is, he's angry". I wouldn't worry about it.
Its not the equality check thats the problem, its the nature of the postincrement operator.
here is a function that works exactly like post-increment for integers:
int postincrement(int & value) { int tmp = value; value = value + 1; return tmp; }
so canada == (postincrement(america));
You see the problem now?
You should use pre-increment if you want that exspression to evaluate properly, ie canada == ++america;
apt and dpkg rule. debian is reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaally easy to maintain. really. I started using gentoo on one of my boxes. You know what I missed? If I install a new *dm (gdm, kdm xdm) what have you it asks me which one I want to use as the default. I never had to type rc-update add something default to add to the system services. I'll admit the rc-update thing is really cool for taking stuff out, but if i say emerge openssh that probably means I want it to start the server when its done installing. People get all huffy about how emerge and apt are more or less the same thing but gentoo uses source, and therefore gentoo is better. Source is cool, but having debian ask me the how much it wants to bother me about configuration issues is cooler. Debian saying the package maintainer has released a new version of config file x is much cooler then/etc/._00whwhwerht00_rc kind of stuff. Debian isn't just apt. Its the whole packaging system that makes it great. And easy. Debian really isn't hard. Especially not compared to gentoo. Gentoo holds your hand a lot less.
Slashdot is not a united front. It's a website. You don't see references to "self-respecting Chicage Sun-Times readers" in the editorials of a newspaper do you?

Ok was just a thought.I was unaware of BSDiff.
Well they didn't call their site brewskieadvocate.com did they? Or coldoneadvocate.com. Its all about presentation.

Or can you...hmmm. *Rushes off to buy mass quantities of water cereal and yeast. Especially yeast*
Quit? I'd hire a hitman. That's disgusting.
man xdelta.

Heh. Where are the modpoints?

Well with the mobile phone its not coming out of the finacial co.s network.
ok, I was wrong...mod the guy who explained the bel vs. decibel thing up instead of me.
Decibels are logarithmic. Thats 4 orders of maginitude.

But I want some shiny new drivers, so I'll say its a 1.
If you want to see what we intended, viewed best in Internet Explorer! No nerd browsers, please.
I'm not so sure they'd be so friendly to a /.er
Speaking of this, could someone make some sort of boilerplate for that form? I'd like to complain but I'm not sure exactly what to put in the fields.
Theres software that lets you use DV tapes as backup / data what have you. Do a search on freshmeat.

parenthesizing it doesn't help. (America++) still returns America.

But slashdot users also like new tech toys, new processors, etc. Don't try and pigeonhole the people commenting and viewing this website.
In a word no. There are no slashdot forums besides the ones that belong to the news stories.
