Bad from any point of view? Hardly. That's exactly what the problem is.
People get this idea of good / bad god vs satan and assume that it applies across the board. Someone stealing from another, or being violent towards another is bad, in certain situations (we all understand the morality of theft and war, don't bother being a troll about that).
Simply portraying stories like this in media such as movies, music, and video games aimed at adults is absolutely fair game. Why? Because as adults we all understand these issues, and we understand also that there's a reality to it all. Video games are far from reality and as adults we're EXPECTED to understand this. It's against the law to sell an 8 year old grand theft auto. The game isn't for them, it's for us. To say that GTA's content is bad cause he's a ghetto thug and he shoots people / steals is absolutely ridiculous. The game is fun, and has an entertaining storyline. It's pure adult entertainment. And no folks, just because it says adult doesn't mean it's evil. It simply means it's not to be processed very well by children, and well... apparently those who feel the need to borrow their simple philosophical senses from their culture.
This is the exact reason I have a distaste for organized religion. It enforces a strict concept of absolute black/white right and wrong, along with a supression for questions which involve meaningful answers. This causes a philosophical void, as it would not be advantageous for the cult members or possible members to grow and change in their perspective, unless it further empowered the church, aka missionaries. The oppression of intellectual growth inevitably does our society a disservice by leading us to misunderstand our universe in ways such as believing humans developed by different means (poof, human) than typical Earth animals and ideas about protecting children from real world knowledge until it's time to drop them on their heads. Keep them dependant, boys. Good work.
Valve has been dealing with a large amount of difficulties facing Steam's ability to bypass its publisher and the "promise" to Vivendi Universal to be able to publish the game.
Valve should have made it more clear to Vivendi what they had planned on doing in the first place and the game would be out already.
While Steam is a great idea, it's also moderately flawed. I can't say how many times I've stood up for it and said that the friends list, etc was a brilliant idea. But as a result of having to manually log onto the friends list, as well as the fact that it simply never works, I've grown pretty disillusioned.
Will Half-Life 2 be the hands-down best FPS of the year, and possibly game of the year? Sure.. However lets just hope that more developers take note of the issues facing valve, the revenue that they could have potentially lost as a result of , and the problems caused by trying to pull one over on a company that they SHOULD be working TOGETHER with instead of fighting (Vivendi).
The Times use to be the standard for responsible print media. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The New York Times has become a tool for liberal media to use in defimation of conservative politics. Jason Blair is only one example of completely fabricated stories which were syndicated to over 650 media outlets around the globe. The Blair scandal has shown us that the management of the NYT is very much interested in pressuring it's (i'm sure mostly willing) reporters to sensationalize anti-conservative news. They create leading polls and then report on them in their own papers slanting the results in a distinct and predict pattern.
Wether you're conservative or liberal it's VITAL to wake up to the dangers of sensationalized media. Your beliefs should be strong enough to hold up to honest reporting, nobody stands to win with fabrication and lies filling the minds of those who are simply not aware of the media agenda.
I guess you just need to get your friends to change to a more use-friendly instant messenger. Why would you bother using a service which is obviously against it's users? Fix things the capitalist way, don't patronize them.
I must say, cookies and cream is a wonderful game. I have beaten it multiple times with friends and it is STILL fun. This game is great for children and adults alike. I have played and enjoyed my time with a friend's child. There is also a sequel in development.
There is no way that humans, or any other species, could evolve such a huge mass of their brain (90%) that would be unused. Evolution is quite specific about immediate feedback. If a group of hominids used 100% of their brain (was 10% the size of ours) and had no mental advantage over another group who utilized the same amount of brain mass while possessing 2% of extra unused brain mass while competing for the same resources would have no intellectual advantage.
Without there being an advantage that leads one to compete in a superior manner they would have an equal chance of survival in the same region. One could suggest that a small group of hominids with the kind of genetic drift that allowed for there to be simply more meaty mass in the brain cavity could have survived as a result of a regional difference, however the amount of coincidences that allowed more and more unused brain mass to develop in a manner that could in some way be utilized by rare individuals is so contrary to evolutionary science one might as well suggest that a great deity has created mankind and that the Earth is a mere 10,000 years old. We really are at the height of our evolutionary history, as our races bread more and more 'mutts' our immune systems advance much in the same way that purebread animals have recurring health problems. The largest problem we run into is the fact that it's so easy to survive in comparison to previous times. You don't have to be a physical competitor, nor even a mental competitor as even the least intellectually developed members of our society are provided for by federal help plans etc to help them survive despite the curse of their genes. Human physical evolution is by no means finished, as worldwide modern medical help is far from a reality, however the capitalist free-world is responsible for developing humanity for ourselves. We can no longer deny that we are simply machines developed through trial and error, survival and death. If we don't take a sober look at ourselves and look at advancing our own species we have run a very real risk remaining in evolutionary limbo as a result of our ideas that humanity is the best possible thing we can be. If Australopithecus Afarensis decided that they wanted to stop all evolution as a result of their religious or other moral beliefs we could not exist. Luckily they had no such choice. I fear humans run more risk of dying out than doing too much more advancement as a result of Darwin's Wall. Being something other than human is really not so bad, as long as we're better than human.

The older you get the more you are likely to favor things which you've already experienced. Familiar things, while familiar, tend to not allow you to expand your mind in new ways. Yes, neurons grow faster in younger people, however scholarly old men can tell you that a mindset appropriate to intellectual growth can sustain a lifestyle of constant improvement.
Many make the choice to simply not improve in any dramatic way due to the belief that trying many different things is a childish trait of chasing fads. Whereas constantly new stimulus is very important for keeping the mind sharp.
The mind is a tool, use it as you will. And if you don't, don't be suprised that it doesn't seem to be working like it use to.
People complaining about bloat need to take more responsibility. You can choose what to install. If you want to do a full install, fine, if not fine.. Just don't complain when all the options are presented to you in such easily configured ways.
You can view this logical fact with such
a simple situation as cave fish. When eyesight does not help determine the survival of the animals the gene pool dilutes and eye sight has gotten worse and worse to the point where eyes themselves are hardly formed.
Since we have discovered genetics there is really no logical arguement against it.
