What I want to know is what is up with the massive emphasis on having a wife or girlfriend on this site.
Have you people never seen a girl before?
Yes, relationships are nice and fine and all. But there's other things out there. Things that can be quite a bit more interesting than picking out drapes, or dealing with hormonal level deficiencies.
Some people just thirst too damn strongly for relationships and you know it's those people who either don't get any, or who must not have much to offer other than the cyclical work of maintaining a relationship.
Do what you want, but there's other things to life out there.
Q: At what point were you most happy with the successes of the engine?
A: The release of the first games with Havok was a huge boost for everyone involved, but I guess that this holiday season has seen the release of many titles that we've been eagerly waiting for, like Halo-2, Halflife-2 and Medal of Honor Each year we see developers getting more and more value out of Havok physics, pushing it harder, and incorporating it more and more into their game design, so it's hard to point at any one success.
I thought Halo 2 used a proprietary physics engine.
the TechTV people never knew what was going on. I've been watching them a while. I think Yoshi is the only guy who can do anything decent. At least they got rid of that annoying little dork dude that was on there a few years back.
I welcome G4. They have some decent shows about games. Drop that lame shit like the screen savers. Tech Live was utter crap. Who cares about random stupid ass gadgets for assholes who want to waste their money and an addiction to fads. This isn't Japan we're supposed to be smarter than that (yea right).
Bring on the games, bring on the stories, bring on the interactivity. Screw the rest.

Is that women really ARE like in games. They have HUGE breasts, slender waists. And they really derive a certain level of satisfaction making their men happy.
So before you go and judge. Stop and think for just a moment about how you're turning 'being a woman' into an idea of a negative stereotype.
It sounds like you thirst a relationship more than you really understand them. Even if 'Half-Life' or 'Halo' don't get trapped by the assumption that it's the gamer's fault. Despite the fact that I made 3 times as much money as my wife, allowing her a pretty decent quality of life, she looked down on me for playing as if I was a child. We did things 'out' all the time and I spent a lot of time with her. She was too immature and it was a mistake to take a relationship so far with someone like this. I'll always care for her, but I'm glad to be out of it. If she didn't want to bother trying to understand who i REALLY was (not some little kid) in favor of her prejudices that's her problem. Video games are a perfectly valid and respectable hobby. Like anything, people can get addicted. I may have played video games as a hobby but she watched televisions ALL DAY ALL THE TIME. Talk about a ludicrous double standard.
I'd rather entertain my hobby than sit around spending time with my woman watching tv all day. And I doubt many would disagree unless they simply havn't been in a relationship =P
It'd be counter intuitive for them to start charging for steam. The purpose is for them to make more money by offering a publisher-free avenue for game distribution. Should they start charging there will be little reason for the consumer to value steam as functional. It'd be like being charged a toll at the front door of your local mall.
Not to mention the idea of trying to link the incidents back to video games is ludicrous when it'd be just as easy if not easier to just link it back to a lack of appropriate parental education and support.

The debate will change.. When? When gamers start becoming parents.
Perhaps the issues of children are deaf upon their disassociated parents. Too much to do in their own life (watch CSI?) to bother really being a part in their child's. You can expect politicians to target the values of the apathetic elite, but as the video game generation starts raising their own children you can expect those values to change.
Politicians sell what is popular, and once they realize we're all tired of their propaganda they'll move onto the next hot button.
Just sit tight, video games are still new in popularity and the slow to self-educate middle-aged are soon to become the rotting in homes elderly.
stop complaining about steam, it works, you can run it while OFFLINE and play all your games. it's getting annoying to watch you people just jump in a mob to feel accepted.

I personally bought 2 copies of ESPN NFL 2k5 and some wrapping paper and tape for $49 and some change post tax. This would have been the cost for me to buy 1 copy of Madden pre-tax.
I personally prefer ESPN NFL 2k5 as a game anyway. No annoying online bugs that cripple Madden. Now, I play with my buddy who joined the army every day for under 50 bucks. Not too shabby.
I think that if ESPN can keep their titles at 20 bucks they'll just sell and sell and sell. Think of it, 20 bucks for an online enabled football game that is as good as the 50 dollar competition.

I think we're really starting to see the cost of online connectivity drop. I just upgraded my cable account to 4mb/384k and i pay about $60/mo, not too shabby.
I've just started seeing ads pop up for broadband specifically targetted towards gamers. I think we might start seeing a lot more competition aimed directly at us.
It's funny, how a group so ignored and misunderstood can punch so much money into the industry. I'm interested in seeing how other industries are going to start taking the gamer perspective into account when creating/marketing their products.

Hello people, Sly 2 Band of Thieves. Why can't anyone spot good games?
Frankly I was suprised to see this game in the list.
Pay attention people, GTA: SA isn't the only good game out there. The Sly series is a great set of platformers.
Pfft, you should be ashamed of yourself. Valve has treated me well, providing me with release after release of the products I desire. I love steam and it has worked great for me. I had HL2 the night of release and didn't have to stand in line.
I swear... what you people will complain about.

Don't lol at your own jokes.
to find geeks putting aside geek outrage.
why doesn't the government enforce by legal mandate the purchase of nutritionally appropriate foods for our children's digestion?
Surely you can recognize that the mass number of parents feeding their babies MCDONALDS FRENCH FRIES is a much larger problem than video games.
What about Bratz the toys for little girls? Or the little girl sized mini skirts at your local X-Mart.
over that other lame dance music any day.

It's still a good game. There may not be a huge amount of depth, but its purpose is comedy. You're supposed to have a chuckle and I think it delivers.
