I don't get the whole taking the bible literally thing. I think creationists skip over that whole part about a day being like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day in the eyes of the Lord.
And if they want to take the Bible literally, why aren't they following the teachings of Leviticus? It would be mighty easy to pick them out then, because they'd all be in prison.
Creationism a bunch of self-interested, mindless bullcrap in my oh-so-humble opinion.
I kind of LIKED Giant Antispyware, even given the niggles you pointed out. It works well, if the interface is infuriating. What I think is hilarious is Microsoft didn't know that Giant had a contract whereby it still has to provide updates to Sunbelt software--who essentially have the same program for sale--for the next few years.
BWAHAHAHAAA!!!
The other humorous thing is that the interface hasn't changed AT ALL since a month ago when they acquired it. It took MS a MONTH to change all instances of GIANT with Microsoft.
You know, someone should tell Microsoft that Openoffice has a "Find and Replace" feature. Maybe they should try it. It's free!
If you pretend that OS X doesn't crash, you're making as big a leap as those who pretend Windows doesn't crash. Maybe as a computer technician I have that special touch, but here it goes:
On the OS X Jaguar disk (the second release of OS X), it contains the firmware patch for iMacs so that they aren't rendered useless upon install, but the installer makes no mention of it. This is a stupid mistake that someone who uses proprietary hardware ONLY, should not make.
I've crashed the hell out of every OS X system I've used for more than a few minutes. Only difference between OS X and Windows XP? You can't blame the hardware. It's inextricably part of OS X because it's illegal to run Mac OS on non-Apple hardware.
And a pre-configured Linux system can be easier to use, easier to update, and crash less than either Windows or OS X. The issue at this very moment is the same as Mac, hardware support. The problem is larger with Linux because the home/office install base is smaller for Linux than for Mac.
That being said, I agree with the "What you're paying for is substance" argument. But then again, the people who are criticizing the iMac Mini are saying they hate having to pay for substance that doesn't do it for them.
Don't EULAs of commercial software prohibit deconstruction of code? Reverse-engineering would be possible.
But as for fun anecdotal evidence: I fix computers for a living, and when I use windows get spyware even when there are no trojans and I haven't accepted any request for any sort of permission to do anything. Not even as much as clicking an OK box to continue.
please note that harassing the receptionist at these places is unlikely to cause any change in their investment policies.
Yep. Also, please note that harrassing the receptionist might get you in touch with the right person. And if you don't have means to do anything other than harrass the receptionist, it'll still give you that warm and fuzzy feeling of costing that company money.
The two biggest times I got this were trying to turn on my eye backlight once while walking around outside when I was into Deus Ex, and always running to my car after hours of GTA.
I also once ducked behind a pillar and went for my gun when someone walked into the door at the gym. Luckily I wasn't packing.
I find that I multitask all the time. In Linux, I don't have the same issues I have w. slowdown in Windows, but I still have them when I'm doing things. I'm fairly sure that part of the issue I have with Linux at this moment is the hard disks I'm using, but I see how something as simple (and fairly mainstream) as listening to music and running a filesharing app in the background while performing other tasks such as graphic art, copying files, or just skittering from application to application as I often do is a major component in those agonizing moments of dead standstill while my computer proiritizes its tasks.
that the pic is supposed to be superimposed over some sort of neato sci-fi background. And the sabers should be glowing. It could also, since it is a leaked pic, be a reject.
ONKBIOAOMKYK (One never knows, but if one asks, one might know. You know?)
I'm surprised you had to go with so many foreign films. What with Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Ashton Kutcher all under the asylum of the US. How about Gigli, The Butterfly Effect, Daredevil, Pearl Harbor (a double whammy), etc, etc, etc.
I think/. style moderation actually encourages the riff-raff, given that it's even easier to moderate than type. I mean quicker, lower effort. And people would, as they do here, think "Og no like. Og mod stupid" and mod them stupid.
So I think it's a bad idea. It could be better than the current system though.
I think by default academic elitists are more educated than average. I would agree that oftentimes people confuse education and intelligence, not to mention wisdom. However, the net is risen from academic institutions. They actually created the concept of free distribution of information back in the day. This is not to say there aren't any stodgy underacheiving elitists who will stop at nothing to hold their ground, but labeling them as "Academic, period" is somewhat uneducated.
HA! See how I tied it all in? Funny, if you ask me.
[French facétieux, from facétie, jest, from Latin factia, from factus, witty.]
However, apparently it wasn't quite enough. So here it is: I was being facetious. I've half my life outside of the USA, and I think the USA's tendency to claim things that are not hers as her own is quite absurd.
I find it pretty demoralizing the basic quality of human behaviour I find most places.
I used to think user-friendliness (btw, not unix, linux), but dammit if it doesn't get easier every day. I still think it's a little inaccessible to your average bear. And person.
Whenever I talk to my girlfriend about computers I find myself having to do things like explain what RAM actually IS. And folder hierarchies. But this is in general wrong with all computers.
Windows's implementation of virtual files (My Computer, My Documents, etc) sucks, sucks, sucks, but it's on the right track as far as GUIs go. And I'm not a GUI nazi either. I'm just saying that the *nix GUI layer is a little immature.
Which I guess isn't really anything wrong with Unix, since it pretty much does what you want it to do when you want it to do it. My point I guess is that the whole desktop workstation environment isn't quite there yet.
On proofreading I've found I'm a terrible waffler. Oh well.
I think one of the biggest reasons Intel has classically been seen as stable and AMD hasn't is because of the motherboard chipset. I'm willing to bet you've built an Intel system that was stable running alongside an instable system with the same processor and different motherboard.
Intel processors have a higher likelyhood of resting on a decent chipset that works well in conjunction with the processor. It happens to be an Intel chipset, so I'm not debating the fact that Intel makes good hardware. I have been building AMD systems for a long time, and the stability varies with the motherboard chipset.
After all this hot air (undoubtedly from a P4, har har), build an AMD system on an nforce chipset and you'll have the most rock-solid PC in the world. Love, Me
What I want is a remote controlled tiny dude with a tiny samurai sword who I could command to infiltrate the evil queen ant's lair. That bitch. I think it would be fun. Although really, a remote controlled aircraft that would be able to eat the bugs after you killed them would be fun too.
Imagine how great it would be if instead of buying kids video games you bought them a tiny war machine that they could go kill cockroaches with. That would be fscking awesome!

Or nice, or unselfish, or unself-righteous. Or anything like that. He runs a business, yes. But he runs a business like a power-hungry behemoth.
:-)
Personally, I say Microsoft's "gentler side" is its unprotected underbelly.

I'm not inspired by Mac. I'm inspired by Linux.

Or am I wrong?
*sniff*...read my post...*snuffle*...and the title...*hic*...and look at your name.
Dude, it's a joke. I, in fact, agree with you, Sir Coward.
Well, Tolkein's books were heavily influenced by his experiences in WWI. Warfare encourages camaraderie.
WHAT WOULD A COWARD KNOW OF WAR!!!!
Remember, it's before they add the CG. ... ... .. .. ..

Let me just say, WOW!

In light of all the new Wikis popping up, imagine a beowulf cluster of them. A bit abstract, but imagine.

Whatever will happen in the world of wiki wiki web?!!
I thought html-style tags would be enough to point out I was being:

Playfully jocular; humorous: facetious remarks.

I can't believe this got modded Troll. Did anybody READ the fucking post?
OK, now Troll me, you load of ignorant, illiterate assholes.
but what would you rather have? A loaded gun?
SPAM, of course.

You mean SOCCER. Ha ha. How cute.
