It's the fact that the RIAA decided to try to "make an example" out of someone and failing miserably. I say Kudos to the judge for this! I can only hope that this could start a snowball effect to just stop this DRM movement.

Yeah, i know, i can't think of a single time we have had an attack on an airport.

But the "world" (I.E. : the world according to the saps that get all their info from FOX news) is scared now. This is a reasonable defence to the possibility that some "tare-ist" group is going to exploit the fact that we have not had surface to surface attacks on airports yet.

Yes it seems funny to have a real-life space invaders defence, but it's not the worst idea in the world.

We know that light is faster than any other Surface to air defence we currnetly employ, but also that it follow a (reletively) straight line.

i think that with enought testing and debugging, you should be albe to knock a missle out of the air even when it's raining/snowing - in reply to a different post.

  10. Could apple become liable??? on Talking iPods · · Score: 2, Interesting
If apple is trying to instruct it's users how to use it's device while the user is otherwise engaged, i wouldn't be surprised if a judge could find apple liable for an auto accident. Plently of studies have shown that even if you are looking at traffic, if you are being given complex instructions "Move your right index ringer in a clockwise manner to fast forward, or counter-clockwise to..." you are less able to react to your surroundings. They had a really good demonstration on MythBusters, (they also got to drive under the influence of alchohol - but not drunk - to prove you are more impaired when you are taking instructions, than when you knocked 2 back at the bar before driving home.)

Not that i'm saying this isn't a bad thing to have audio instructions, but if they are endorsing using your iPod while you are "eyes-engaged" i think they'll be looking for trouble.

if they really want to be safe, they should advise you to familiarize yourself with the iPod before driving, and only use the iPod while stopped.

There are already many ways to get a clean WAV file from anything playing on your computer, drivers that hook into the direct sound and just copy what ever is there. Or how about just burning the CD from iTunes, then ripping it with a freeware tool?
What these XXAA need to do is just understand that if you can watch/listen to it, it can be copied. That's it! Make people want to buy the product for other reasons. I own sooo many different seasons of different television shows because i like to have the boxes sitting on display. Anywho, is this really news? another attempt to create "un-copy-able" media failed?

You are requred to follow resonable steps to ensure that you are not purchasing something stolen. For example, you walk into Best Buy, you can assume that products on their shelves are not stolen. But some guy walks up to you on the street and say's "hey buddy would you like to buy a watch real cheap *show forearm*" you should probably request some sort of proof that he acquired them legaly.

I would be willing to trust a local electronics store, especially when it's new in box. If you have some concern you could always call the manufacturer and see if the S/N has been reported stolen, but yeah, you are requred by law to make sure you're not purchasing stolen property.
