Not that this effects apartment dwellers. I see TVs, radio, computers, computer monitors, used engine oil... all sorts of stuff in our apartment complexes dumpster. I can't imagine how Rhos is going to effect the end-users (corps have to follow the law, peeps just hide) unless we the consumer can dispose properly of our parts for less effort than it takes to walk down to the dumpster at 11pm. The only reason i recycle my HP ink cartridges is because they include than handy prepaid envelope to send it back - less effort to just put it in the outgoing mail bin, then take it down to the trash.
... and think of all those old hard disks with exploits on them. We need to go to the dump and degauss all of them, NOW! C'mon people, this is a security issue.
gimme a break, a cache is a cache, it's supposed to have old information, even if that information is wrong, or destructive.
FTSOTA: The article suggests that a sizable group of people -- especially in emerging countries -- who do not care about the ideology of free software but expect the software and OS to be free will be swayed to embrace GNU/Linux
Okay, if they don't care about the ideology of free software, they are not going to embrace ONLY GNU software... and since when does embrace mean the same as forced?
i dunno, i think the better idea would be to wind the spring for the vibe unit. then you don't have to worry about it's primary use, a clock, to run out of power, you just wont get a vibe when a phone call occurs if you forgot to wind it..... now just to solve the overhead for the bluetooth unit, cuz i'm sure it's gonna suck power too.
The thing is, it doesn't bug me that people post "first post". It's really not that bad. You just scroll a few lines, they get to feel good in their little worlds, and we all move on down the page.
What bugs me is that people continue to waste mod points marking them "troll". We all know that, and we should be looking primarily for the good posts to move up the mod chain.
Does this remind anyone else of the flame wars on AIM a few years ago. My frosh year at college, and everyone was out to crank up our buddies "warning level", ridiculous
Actually this happened to me to. I was reading a slide show on Rocks clusters from another post (me to lazy to link to it) and i got this pop-up telling me that "A new version of FireFox needs to be installed." Luckily it was and update, not and upgrade to a completely different version, and a completely different browser.
I have installed IE7 on my machine at work, since i figured that most sites work best when veiwed with IE, and many of my work-related sites will only work with IE (and i'm trying to quit smoking....). I despise IE7 (beta). Many neccesarry active-x plug-ins aren't trusted so i have to refresh sites after clicking the stupid "Information bar" that was introduced in IE6 to allow it to run!!!.....
to summarize, i'm not denying that the UPDATE to firefox was pushed to me, but it was welcomed. I can't imagine how many MySpace yuppies will get pissed at the disfunctionality of IE7...
For those of you that were confused by the intro, here's a rundown that makes more sense The point about Blu-Ray and DVD is that the playstation is following an evolution pattern, waiting for the correct time to updrage. PS1 had CD, PS2 had DVD, PS3 has to evolve. as for my opinion, i still use my PS2, and have no intention to buy an XBOX of anykind, (IE i don't have a XBOX 1) the PS2 can do everything i want, soon i will want to upgrade to newer technology, and i'll be looking at what's going to last me longer, and for now at least, that's not the XBOX. thanks for listening
i use norton ghost. This is the best thing ever. you simply install windows, activate, install all updates/ drivers, create a pristine ghost image, and let the bugs (in your case public users) loose on it! It's not an expensive investment for your employer, or even you so that you can have some sanity back. That's my suggestion. -nick
But unlike .NET, we have pointers and shared memory(-y, ies)...
Only when you sit too close to the monitor
Off to the second life pub
Hey, just because I drive a 13mpg sports car 1.5 miles to work everyday....

Well yeah, they have to release a candidate with the new startup chime.

Yeah, i had an HP OmniBook 800 p133 and never once owned a battery for it. Always worked on AC.

I can't believe I kept checking /. for like, 10 minutes to see what the next article only available to subscribers would be, for this.

And there's no one there to raise them, if you did.
Actually, I seem to remember this being one of the comments in an early MST3K episode... I'll go ask Google...
...Microsoft will now enforce a "Revert to Windows Default" upon setting up AutoUpdate.
like that directory shorcut on your desktop called "Ripped Netflix movies"
