You actually can. It's ok to use RDBMS for such structure.
But it's overkill - it will need huge engine just to start, but that system doesn't need most abilities of RDBMS.

I mean not objects from programming OO, I mean real-life objects, kinda generalised files. I didn't mean, for example,
    inheritance.

I.e. file that has 20 names, 100 links to it, some with orientation,
extension, mime-type, role, security model, security level, etc...

Any language can work with such objects and it's really no restrictions on API to that objects...

  3. I prefer object-oriented graph filesystem on How To Implement A Database Oriented File System · · Score: 3, Interesting

    Object-oriented graph system
    - need much less overhead than database system
    - can hold multiple ways to access one object, easing semantic link
    representation
    - can be secure by allowing only the workflow links.
It should be organised as a set of object that hold data within them,
    with links between them.

I am not arguing that people knew about that company.

    I just want to say

    • Knowledge about the company existance doesn't necessary mean that its product is a brand name. Brand name means at least history of usage that proved quality of products. Dell, Gateway produce brandname computers in this sense, VA Linux does not.

    • Business people aren't mainstream people. Linux will come to desktop when home computer buyers will adopt it.

I saw a lot of wonderuful and horrible uses of internet at workplace.
On my opinion the best solution is to create
_two_ virtual machines for each person which need
or want internet. On the same screen one virtual machine is connected to internet fully and without any restriction, second is following strict corporate policy.
The cut and paste between machines is carefully monitored (by software or special policies).
So if an employee surf web, or chat, or use viruses ( :) in mail - it's completely in his own virtual machine. If he/she spoiled anything there - that's their troubles only...
Moreover, it's easy then to monitor private time
versus company time by monitoring activity times of that virtual machines. Even if that times will not be reported to managers, seeing that ratio of own/work can be very disciplining.
    Just my 2 cents...
