I obviously have no idea of your age, but I have found that as I have gotten older networking has gotten much easier. A boss here that I got along with leaves, a co-worker there that I had beers with joins a new company, ect. Now I find quite a few people in my area know my name and it is *FINALLY* making my job search go a bit easier.
Number of interviews from local newspaper ads - 9

= Never looking at online ads again.
It has become an annoyingly common fact that the online resources, once revolutionary and powerful are now junk. The jobs are always filled, and that is the 1 in 1000 submittals that get a response. The only way to move jobs now is through local papers and personal networking (in my area at least).
Off topic, but easy on the lazy whiners comment. Some of us in really slow areas are damed good at what we do and have been working our asses off to find that next job, for a considerable amount of time, with no luck. I'm luckier than most, at least I know the exact date of my job ending. I have been looking for a while now and it doesn't look like I will be done looking any time soon. Anyway, just remember that depending on what field you are in and exactly what city you are in, it may actually be that damned difficult to find new employment.
So we don't know where Osama is... you have my email address and my IP address. Do you know where I am? Probably not. And I am stationary (too much so). Imagine if you had much less information, what little you had was most likely laced with untruths, and your target was constantly moving (I am of course assuming he is actually alive which is getting more and more doubtful). The fact that we do not know where he is should be moot. We know where a lot of the terrorist cells are and they do more damage than him. There are many more leaders than just him.
2-3 Years, 6 months, 48 hours. It doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Nuclear, maybe, maybe not, but they do have many more much more horrible ones and a leader that is not the least be hesitant to use them. Given the choice of being vaporized by a nuclear blast or watching my body melt from the inside out from a gas attack, I'll take the former. This country and many others are actively supporting the deaths of innocent people all over the world. Our leader uses force in a reactionary role. And if you don't think attacking Iraq is part of the reactionary process perhaps you need to read up on Saddam's record of supporting violence against the U.S.
Calling the attackers brave and strong willed is insane. They were brainwashed cowards acting out blanant 1st degree murder on innocent men, women, and CHILDREN. It is absolute madness to suggest people that would willingly attack innocent civilians are anything but murderous cowards.
I agree with you that removing the WTC images from ads and movies was perhaps not the most appropriate action. It was a kneeejerk reaction to help ease the immediate pain, but it also took what could have been grand last memories of the glorious structures away from us. As I did not directly loose anyone close to me in the attack and I can not for one moment suggest how seeing the images in movies and ads featuring the towers (I still have the Spider Man clip should the helicopter stuck in a web between the towers) would feel.
This was not meant to be a flame, and I apologize if it came out that way.
Off the main topic but an answer to your post. DEFINATELY go for the insulation in the interior walls. Did that and now not only are all the rooms quiet, my daughter can play that Britney Spears crap and I don't hear it!
I do not understand why Notes is such a taboo here. I have setup and administrered multiple Domino servers creating multiple mail and database domain structures all without hitch or incident. Updates go flawlessly. Uptime for my email servers is 99.89% for one and 100% for the other (that's right, not one second of downtime since I installed it over a year ago, and it is running on a *GASP* WinNT server). Calendar works perfectly, remote users never have a problem replicating that isn't phoneline related. Administration is incredibly easy with R5. And hey, it's NOT eachange. Oh, and CLP's get more respect and a helluva lot more money than MCSE's.
Here on Slashdot if you spend $$$$$$$$ doing case/chair/screen/fridge modifications you are heralded as an amazing person. Everybody for the moment wants to be/act like you and have what you have. Yet the second anything is mentioned about people spending money friviously, be it a baloon trip around the world or a diamond ring for your girlfriend (yes a few slashdot readers have girlfriends, amazing isn't it) there is immediate backlash. Sure these mods are cool, but how are they any more "non-frugal" than some of the other topics? Is there something in the cool geek factor that I now, in my late 20's no longer have a grasp on?

I live in an area that has the 2nd largest Amish population in the country. ALL of my neighbors while growing up were Amish and I am very sad to say that this is not the case. Their basic religious fundamentals are still in tact but you now see them buying only the name brand products (Coca-Cola and Busweiser anyone... very much a NO NO supposedly). Many of them, despite not having electricty can still tell you what is happening on popular TV shows. The elders are holding on as best they can but the up and comming generation are finding it very difficult to remain steadfast to the old ways when there is so much advertisement on what you should have and so much sensationalism of what you "should" be. They are wonderful people and I do hope they are able to keep their culture strong.
I'm sure you will get all kinds of advice about switching browsers, swithcing OS, how Windows sucks, ect, but to close these without nuking all of IE I've found that the good old ALT-F4 works well on these annoying beasts.

Both of these show.09 in the next year. I'm all for giving a company its due, but lets not leave the other players out. Maybe even, *gasp* go for a complete story.
Each and every time, in almost every industry, when a change like this is proposed the industry screams, "That will add $$$$$$ to the price and make it impossible for us to make our money!" Yet every time the finally are forced to do it the price increases never appear and their profit margins just keep right on going up. When, oh when, are these industry people going to realize that moving forward is a good thing? They metion slow adoption of the technologies such as HDTV. Well, maybe if they would actually make the blasted TV's, in mass, to start bringing the costs down more of us would be buying them. I know that is what I am waiting on. Here in my market, all the major networks are HD available, but I simply will not shell out the outrageous $$$ that the TV makers say I need to.
Oh well, someday I will be in charge and I can be.... oh screw it, I'll be just as clueless as todays industry leaders.
and end up getting nailed hard by nVidia? I've only been playing "hardcore" with computers the last few years, but it seems I remember a card from 3dfx that had something along the lines of 4 processors and still couldn't touch nVidia's performance. If this works and doesn't cost $$$$$$ more, great, but I have a feeling this is a grasp to move ahead in a small margin area, while those in the mainstream are going to just pass it by.
I relaize I am opening myself up for both flame and the "dreaded" offtopic mod, but this is moderated as funny why? Heaven forbid we believe in anything beyond the great white computer screen. We all believe in something, even if it is nothing (wrap your brain around that for a while). Let's drop the religion bashing and just talk tech. OK?
For the love of Bob. When is this absolutely stupid Star Wars bashing session going to end? It's a fun movie. So what if it isn't the highest grossing film of the summer? So what if it falls short of the $430 million US mark (approx what TPM made)? These folks need to stop taking themselves so seriously and *gasp* enoy life. There have been countless movies made that are better than the whole Star Wars franchise. There have also been countless movies made that are better than Spider Man. Back away from the computer screen, open your eyes and realize some things are just for fun.
