I am referring to capability to be compatible with compatible base distros. The key word is 'possible'. If the distro doesn't provide the base functionality needed, then it isn't one of the possible ones. Anyway... read further and I clearly say we need a good base distro that can be built upon. There are people already working upon a related idea: certified distros that feet a certain spec for capability....

Nothing is preventing smart game writers from creating games that include every possible package you could need.... ie: maybe the base core and drivers on a system need to be installed by the user to get a decent functionality going, but the rest of the packages can all be on the game disc. That said, what is needed is a decided base distribution that provides the functionality that can then be extended by the game writers. The reason none of this matters is because the average user isn't capable of installing a linux installation, and demands a higher level of functionality in games than can currently be done off a non-configured auto-install of a linux distribution. There is still a ton of hardware that doesn't even run properly under linux. Heck; I have hardware that doesn't run properly on windows 2000... Until the whole world is using 'linux compatible open hardware' there will always be a predominant 'windows'.

As it is, they ignored me... They didn't even offer anything in return for information. No motivation for me to help them out... They tryed to sue me once when I made a N64 fan site... (which I didn't get anything out of; I did it to support them) Whatever happens, I could care less, because Nintendo signed their death warrent when they stopped caring more about the games, and started focusing on anti-piracy. The same applies for future technology when it becomes just as easy for me to store all the latest Disney movies on my pc... It isn't flamebait, it is the truth. Having internet explorer tied into the registry and all sorts of pieces of the os is terrible. If you can break IE, then you can crack into the system remotely, as a result of all the functionality tied into IE. First off, the shell system should be altertable like the linux window managing systems, not be built into the os. And what of the emulation layer? XP emulates many of the older systems itself, because otherwise stuff wouldn't run. XP is Windows 2k, filled in which 5000 hacks to run stuff that you shouldn't because it is a security risk and is liable to mess up your machine.

I made a great site, and never got paid a dime for it. And I made it clear my site was not affiliated with Nintendo. So how did they repay me? They threatened to sue me unless I freely GAVE them my domain. I said no way, and sent letters back to their lawyers, considering my dad is a lawyer. Eventually they realize they couldn't TAKE my domain, since I registered my domain before they registered their trademark... so I decided to sell it to them for a rip off price of $50 because I was no longer interested in supporting Nintendo at that point. I was a non-profit individual having fun supporting a cool product. What did I get? Nothing but grief.
