  1. Obligatory Google reality check..... on Don't Be Evil — Hire It Done · · Score: 1

I dig Google but Google is in transition. "Don't be evil" should probably be changed to "We do less evil than everyone else".

    Why?

Google is a publicly traded company that's why and their only obligation is a return to their stockholders. If it means throwing money at both sides, they'll do it. If it means bowing to China, they'll do it. It's also why Apple should be using sweatshops to make their iPods.

And before you start screaming about that, there are places in the world where sweatshops would be welcome, like Niger.

Google and Apple are both cool(tm) but they aren't your buddy and they aren't your pal. They are publicly traded companies.

It's very simple folks, just vote against ALL incumbents this year be they Democrat or Republican. Both sides are crooks and you need to have enough on each side to keep the other side "honest".

You should probably vote against the incumbent as a general rule anyway.

Seems like what we need at this point is OSS encryption that can't be so easily cracked by N.S.A. It's just a matter of time before Skype/Vonage, etc are required to change their encryption to DES or something that the government can read.

Of course that's the exception not the rule. Only you can learn about investing and what is comfortable for you in a given market trend. Keep most of it in safe investments and maybe later use 10-20% for speculative investments that you understand. Don't lose what you can't afford to.

Otherwise also remember that most money managers can't beat the S&P 500, an index that isn't magical at all except it's the 500 largest companies. "Money manager" needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
