As a very recent grad, I'd say: "start your own business, sell it, get out before the shady acounting tanks the leftovers." That's what I learned!
Truly, my Business Management degree taught me that I don't want to be stuck in an office for the rest of my life. That's why I leave tonight to go find Dinosaur bones, in pursuit of my paleontology degree!
Find it hard to believe if you like, but it is the ABSOLUTE truth. "Go try it out for yourself," I implore. It is true and it has happened to me. The omg (I originally thought omg was 'oh my gawd') system also limits the copying and distribution of legally traded live recordings of the likes of Phish, Dave Matthews Band, and others. Again, try it out as it is, no shit, the truth.
yes, I am informed. Reading the previous discussion, I saw that many of the questions posed were about comparissons between the European and US agencies.
above carefully reworded to keep from being an assh0)e.:)
I was very interested A) to see what questions would be allowed to be asked, and B)to hear what he had to say. I guess their methods for patent approval are patented and, therefore, cannot be discussed in an open forum. Probably afraid the US Gov't would sue or bomb over pointed answers about the US system.
I'd like a better explanation of the cancellation.
here is your reality check:
I go into the recording studio and record a 14 song demo with a band. Have my laptop (a Vaio) in the car and copy the master of the first mix to my harddrive using the preinstalled Sonic Stage. When I get home, I burn a new copy to play on the stereo. This is a "rough draft" of the recordig so I don't mind that it's been compressed. Later, I go to burn a copy for my friend and am told by the Vaio that I cannot burn a fucking copy of my own goddamned music because I don't have rights to make more than one copy. This sucks!!!!!!!

those deadhead days are a state of mind!
What about Ken Kesey's On the Bus Movie? You know, the movie about the ride on Further in 1964? Now that would be a trip on IMAX!
To make this movie better, make it bigger and louder. Just like an American in a foreign country trying to communicate. If they don't understand you, speak slowly and loudly.
I've seen those commercials, too, and they looked exactly the same quality as everything else on my tv - which is quite new, by the way, and loaded with features and "HDTV ready." But still, in those broadcast commercials, I couldn't see any difference.:)
I guess I'm stuck at zero, now. Haven't seen any mods on this post. Must be stuck at zero - gota big speeding ticket this morning, too. Ain't life grand?
I agree wholeheartedly with the directors. They directed. It's no one elses right to re-direct, unless it was specifically covered in the contract. It reflects on the director when the film has been hacked to shreds and "reads" like a 3rd grader wrote it. shortened scenes and broken stories make them look like they blew it.
At least one of the cable companies offers digital cable: AT&T. [Yes I bow to company that uses the Death Star as its logo and] I get it, too. Diff is that my digital cable must be decoded by their box and passed a) via coax to my vcr or replaytv or b)via rca cables to my receiver. While the signal is digital, I do not watch digital cable. Their decoder converts it to analog for my convenience. Mabye their digital signal is encoded to keep just anyone from using their own decoder to steal service. In any event, I still watch analog TV with my digital cable. The digital signal offered is also a compressed signal, and not the same quality of dvd mpeg compression anyway.
Do the Canadian boxes have digital outs??!
I hope we're not confusing digital cable with high definition! Cause AT&T assured me that they will not be providing digital outputs on their boxes for quite some time!
I would suspect not. Microsoft has already "gifted" enough. Think of all the support personell that would be out of a job if not for them! Think of all the poor trojan writers and lawyers. Microsoft has donated enough already!
in fact, it is the IGNORancE of HIV that has caused it to spread. Frighteningly, people on the African continent are now consuming 80,000 tons of bushmeat (read MONKEYS) per year. HIV (2 strains) came from SIV (S= Simean) of which there are at least 30 known strains. It is only a matter of time before it gets worse.
"If they use this data to say "people are filtering out commercials", the proper response is NOT to disable the commercial filtering technology. If commercials are so obnoxious that people will spend $400 for a gadget that filters them, then the problem is definitely not that people are thieves. The problem is that they're not catering to their audience. If I am willing to spend that much money to filter commercials, then removing my ability to do that will result in removing my interest in watching TV."
very well said and worth repeating. Unfortunately, I think that neilson does NOT track commercial viewing, only what shows have viewers.
I imply that, while I dislike the idea of spying, I would like those that rate to have accurate and complete data upon which they may base their decisions. It is possible for these devices to be used to pry into personal preferences without consent, making them potential spys.
"(along with ReplayTV viewers) DON'T WATCH COMMERCIALS. Why else would you own one of these machines?"
Not true. I'm a ReplayTV owner and we watch commercials, occassionally. Commercials are a good opportunity to piss, munch, yell at the kids, let the cat in/out/in/out(which is it?!?!), adjust the thermostat, etc. the pause and skip technique allows for too much time. When we pause, sometimes it takes 45 minutes to do everything that could/should be done before more television is viewed. Commercial breaks limit you to 3 1/2 or so minutes. This is enough time to do most tasks. Sometimes we use the Replay to pause tv. Sometimes to skip commercials. Mostly we use it to design our own programming schedule. We record every show about dinosaurs, yoga lessons, sesame street (4:30am), and whateverelse attracts attention.
Skipping commercials kicks ass, but is NOT the only use for these devices. Being able to pause anything when the baby cries is my favorite feature. Instant rewind, replay, slow-motion, and return-to-live are also pretty neat!
enjoyed this article (and pictures) - thanks for posting
agreed. underwhelmed. whatever. this is news?

don't forget: Guest cancellations to protect reputations... You may be on track.

is that the new animated Metropolis or the great original?

Depends users all over the world are no offended and will be filing suit by the end of the day. You insensitive crapper. I hope you're happy. ROTFLMAO

I can't believe people could go that long without refreshing /. or checking email.

agreed - if they were smart (and sneaky?) they'd track EVERYthing they could!
