You sound like one of those assholes who complain about politics but don't participate under the excuse of "my vote doesn't count". Indifference is why we're in this mess.
Furthering the point about "being in the wrong class" - this took me a while to realize (been going to college since 2003 - part and full time). Basically get to be friends with your department head. Once I realized you can simply ask to get overrides for certain courses (and test out of others depending on school policy) your schooling career gets to be much less painful. Just be able to 1) communicate your desire clearly and 2) communicate your knowledge within that course clearly.
Related - if you were like me and got skipped straight into Calculus due to high entrance test scores and realize you know none of the foundational knowledge - you know...like any of the Trig they were discussing, there's no shame in asking to be placed back a class. Ultimately - education is what you make of it. Learning to communicate effectively and making it work for you is a major part of that.
And don't forget how we ever survived maybe 20ish years ago before Ads were on every.fucking.thing. You know like...people putting their own money up to host their stuff, accepted donations, built their own servers, etc etc. The Internet aint going nowhere.
There's a human cost somewhere in the process and that's where the US will lose the lead most of the time- all other variables even. Plus the various trade agreements vs. taxes seem to give them more of an edge.

I love how Romney's answer to nearly everything is to relax regulations and assume the free market will take over. You know...the same free market that got us into this financial mess and sent jobs overseas... Classy.
I totally understand free usable work spaces but lodging too? If you don't have your shit together to take care of yourself what would make me even come close to thinking you can manage your own project?
Yeah yeah, I'm primarily a Windows guy and have actually been damned pleased with Win 7.
But this does appear to be in their usual cycle of releasing garbage first (ME, Vista) just to make some fairly decent release soon following (XP, Win 7).
As a Windows admin I don't even bother with the first releases of their seemingly usual 2 part deal. Not even worth it.
"It found Chinese labor to be too expensive and demanding."
Are you fucking serious? Paying people wages to reflect the work performed is expensive and demanding? Fuck, why can't everything be free for everyone then? For fuck's sake, mates. Get your shit together and stop being evil assholes.
I've accidentally brought knives through screening when going on flights and haven't been deemed a terrorist. Yet anyway. A dumbass who forgets to empty out his pockets before heading to the airport - most definitely. I think the assumption every person who has something detected is going to be on a no fly list is a bit much. Not impossible - just improbable.
While I haven't been a fan of the TSA - I'm pretty sure it'd just illicit a secondary screening. Rather, I hope there's common sense involved here. We'll see how that actually pans out.
Frankly, I see a lot of potential good in this. Two things we needed after 9/11 - cockpit doors and better explosive detection. Beyond that we were pretty much good, IMO. Depending on how rapidly this scans, what the health concerns are, and how the enforcing agency (TSA) handles this tech this may, surprisingly, make travel somewhat more bearable.
Ditto. That + a dropbox share between wife and I does the trick. Moreso useful for while I'm alive and she or I needs to handle something in one of the various accounts we have laying around.

I hear this a lot on slashdot - where on earth do you guys live? Everywhere I worked the older folks held high value as they had the existing relationships with certain customers and knew various jobs at a level that would be tough to match.
FYI- I'm in the southeast US if that makes a difference. Maybe it's a cultural thing. I just haven't seen it in my experience.
Vote for who you truly believe in instead of buying into the lesser of two evils or that you vote doesnt count at all. Plain and simple.

Seconded? Thirded?
Anywho - only thing to add to this is to enable all of the advanced options in MSE (scan removable drives, create system restore point).

...are you a butler?
Thanks for the insight, fellas!
Don't worry, I'm in the same boat too. All I've gathered is that it's The Next Big Thing (tm) and deals with The Cloud (tm). According to them anyway.
Read up on the history of PGP. The answer to that will become clear.
Stock price has little to do with actual performance or quality these days...or even reality.

I'd say there's a strong probability...
Hit the nail on the...oh nevermind. I don't have a good bolt joke.
Isn't that called their mother's basement?

Or a mob of angry passengers will deal with the situation if one was to brandish one on a flight and attempt to ruin their trip.
Existing metal detectors should.

Wait, how is it an employee's market?
