Furthermore, Apple is a terrible company to include in this kind of survey. A very large percentage of their customers are Mac enthusiasts
True there are plenty of Mac fanbois (just like there are Linux/Windows/Amiga fanbois), but Apple's customer service sometimes *REALLY* goes above and beyond...
When Apple finally released Nvidia's Gforce 4TI for the 2002 PowerMac, I looked over the specs, thought about buying it, but ultimately left the video card sitting in my shopping cart on apple.com's website.
A few days later Apple Customer Service called me at work to "see if I had any questions about the Gforce." Sure they were looking for a sale & I wasn't too interested in buying it, but it was nice to see Apple putting forth the effort.
Sorry to say, but for professionals who require it, there's no substitute for MS Office.
It's like telling a graphic artist who relys on Photoshop to just "Gimp" their next project...
Besides, most Mac users barely use the command line...
Telling my Grandma to "emacs, join, sort, grep and cut" when all she wants to do is WRITE A LETTER will probably require a change of her adult diapers.
Choose one:
a) Imagine a Beowulf Cluster of these!
b) BSD is dying!
c) My x86 compiles my kernel faster!
d) Stupid propriety software!
e) I wanna have ESR's baby!
f) Mac's are only used by gays!
Back to the story, glad to see Mac's being used more in the science sector.
"If this site had any more nerd jokes it would be a comment thread on Slashdot."
Actually, I think every Mac user probably has that setup, in that order...
1) Use it almost daily, but of course my Terminal, iTunes, Limewire, and Entourage icons come before it.;)
2) eXcel next, since I use it for files I transfer from work, but not nearly as often as Word.
3) Powerpoint, my Dock's redheaded stepchild. I opened it once, it worked, I closed it; now it just takes up space. I like the color of the icon though, so it stays.
How creepy. Creed popped up on iTunes the minute I saw this.
That reminds me, I need to delete those songs.
Apple needs to learn some skillz!

Woooo! Apple needs to employ this guy to make the Macintosh ever LESS desirable! Is he a carpenter??? Nice Stanley tools! I stepped in dog poo today! This rawkz! Someone shove a.45 in my brain stem and pull the trigger! What a great idea! Wooo! News! I'm glad I stayed up late!
And people seriously wonder why Linux isn't competitive on the desktop? Try workin' on the *OS* instead of building half-assed PC boxes Bob Villa.
That sounds good! Like 3 years ago... Let's see him engineer it to 8" x 8" x 8" then he'll have something to bring to the table.. Ooops, they already did that, silly me.:)
Linus, is that you?
or
"Linux" and "Desktop"
Enjoy shackin' up with Bill, he's the abusive husband who'll show you those pictures... ;)
Price shouldn't make a difference.

Don't you know that's the new Apple slogan?
"Proudly going out of business for over 20 years!"
I'm sorry, can you submit that to me in PDF or Excel format?

You're mistaken... Bill is usually the one getting sued, Steve summons other to cease and desist. :)

I think the odds are better of someone getting a remote root shell then cracking my password.
I'd even wager that most people use nearly the same passwords for multiple accounts rather than random strings.
If they were really from preists they'd be "Japanese virgin sexy pictures." Actually, wouldn't it be "hot young boys?"

Linux on the Desktop....
Oops.
Some humor in this I guess... Ripping music on a Mac

An Apple cube, cubed... With bright blue lights... How... ummm, cool.
Nice floppy drive.
Argh, I heard a rumor that EQ was to be ported to the Mac. But, it seems to be just that, a rumor... CT, eh? Do you know Barbacon?
