Slap on some Mugen stickers. Each should good for 500KB extra performance.
While you're at it.. slap on a Spider sticker, some aerodynamic flares on the edges of the HD, polished chrome rails, Koni rubber shock absorbing screws, Iceman mandrel bent HD forced air cooler with K&N filters, connect the turbo button on your case to a NOS injector to squirt on your CPU.;)
That should do it! Going by some of the stuff listed at RaceSearch
Tried the HuffyUV lossless UV codec (for windows)? Google for it.
Combine that with a multi-segment AVI capture tool such as freeVCR, you can do capture videos up to your available HD size (in 2GB chunks or 4GB for NTFS).
Quality is exactly as you see it coming in from the s-video input, and great for super-fast conversion to mpeg-2, or the longer conversion to divx. Not very cpu intensive either. I was able to capture 30FPS with raw sound on on my Celeron 550 way back, and the P3 876 with 99.999% no drop in frames.
Just as good as DV from analog sources without needing firewire hardware or extra conversion steps.
I watch tv on my computer on the 17" monitor. I get to see the edges of the display hidden usually by overscan (big wooo!), and the sound system on my computer is better (SB Live! + multi-speakers + bass) than the built-in speakers in the TV downstairs.
I also get the benefit of browsing say/. while inane CNN or say Enterprise plays in a corner.
Of course, there's a TV next to the computer in case the computer crashes, or watching video independent of the computer.
Of course I prefer my TiVO which is connected connected by s-video to the video-in of the ASUS v7700 Deluxe than any computer-based PVR solution.
This way, I can crash my computer all I want, and still watch/digitize any video I like by VCR/TiVO/divx.
Ya, why do we pay $9.95 (now $13+) to the Man! We hippies don't need the Establishment.
We can build our own PVRs with some wire, chewing gum, and a dual-athlon system.
We don't need to pay monthly bills for electricity either because this system will have its own solar/wind/nuclear power sources.
We won't be paying anything for the 'Net pipes either because we'll have our own WiFi MAN for play Quake 3 with the people we really care about, or browsing all the the pooled pr0n and mp3s.
We'll also have our own Martha Stewart labs out back making us Jolt and Doritos.
Who needs to pay monthly for anything? We sure don't!
and I believe as part of IBM's Websphere, Oracle's Application Server, the forementioned Stronghold, plus whatever else it gets modified and rebundled as.
There were many scenes that are subpar when compared to the writing of the book. Changes to make them faithful to the book would have taken zero time and only added extra drama, mystery, and a better appreciation of the book.
Such as, some time is made to point out that Frodo's sword glows, yet they never made Gandalf's Glamdring glow also. Didn't have to explain Gandalf's sword, but could have only "added" to the background mystery.
When Strider showed himself to Frodo and the gang at Bree, he declared himself as Aragorn of a royal heritage. Only a few more extra seconds and would've added much to the drama, and later "feeling" for this ranger during all the battles.
Showing a ring on Galadriel's finger at the mirror pool. Zero time and would've have hinted she's ALSO a ring lord.
In the book, nobody knew that Frodo was alive and wearing mithril until after they got out of the Moria during the last battle in there. It was revealed immediately in the movie. Deflated the suspense and drama quite a bit. I guess they didn't want to spend time showing Frodo getting carried around.
Talking about bits that should have been cut out, the Gandalf/Saruman battle. Does not really exist in the book, and is entirely unnecessary to the whole plot screentime wise when dialogue to explain it would do, IMO. Time better spend would have been more background about Hobbits and water, even a short Tom Bombadil episode, more bits of Galadriel's gifts.. not altering Arwen's/Glorfindel's role at the river at Rivendell, etc...
So summary, fairly good adaption of the books much in the style of the Dune movie to the books, but it lost quite a bit of the deep layering of the story, and intensity of the scenes.
Layering that would not have added much more time (if any!) considering the unnecessary made-up scenes that could have been left out instead.
Hey, you know... I think I can use all ten of my fingers to tap this 104 button device, and out comes intelligible words at least 80wpm without even looking at the device or my fingers.. !!
I can even use my thumbs on these dual-stick thingies, and move this character "Cloud" around in a huge virtual world without even looking at my thumbs!!
I could even push this accelerator and brake pedal thing with my right foot and make my car stop and go without even looking to see which I'm pressing!!!
I think it's more of the sign of the language times. These days, people would rather (and usually only know) how to do such a thing in Perl when a simple sed script would have done the job.
Simplicity and ubiquity (Perl) versus lean, mean and obscure (sed).
Just the other day, I caught Verio using a Perl command call from an SSI include to get REMOTE_HOST functionality when it's actually less memory/cpu intensive with an almost exact sed search/replace expression.
Overgeneralization sure, but I see this with scripting at work also. But then, that was one of Perl's goals..
I hope it's a sequel more in the vein of the later published book Neuromancer (1984) than seemingly right now more like a sequel to Lawnmower Man.
One is about how "cyberspace" can be visualized and interacted with much like the real world through avatars (whether the avatar represents a real or virtual entity).
The other is about transferring the entirety of the human consciousness into the computer. Subtle differences IMO.
So going by this logic, the Federation of Planets could not exist. Going where no man (one) has gone before doesn't bring home the bacon.
Instead, it's the money grubbing Ferengi who would write the history books, and end up ruling an Imperialist-like empire in the Alpha quadrant next to the Klingon and the Romulans?:)
More like RC5-64. There's no source for SETI so "THEY" have to port it. It would be pointless too because they won't optimize it for the extra hardware.
But, it'll be cool to optimize RC5-64 to use those vector/matrix processors to crunch even faster!
Forget the Dreamcast farm; how about a PS2 Beowulf farm.:)
Ada?
The Clie with its reflective color screen looks best in bright sunlight; to be further off-topic.

Betamax and VHD, you mean? ^_^

Same thing for www.kfwb.com
Seems to be a slow shutout of other browsers on the web these days..

Hey, Andromeda is good. Just below SG-1 and Lexx on the par. And decent sci-fi to watch while waiting for Farscape to come back.
Better than watching who's-doing-who week on Dawson's Smallville Creek.
What about symbolic linking? Is that included in the new OS since I believe NTFS doesn't have it yet either.
If it's on Google, it MUST be true! :)
Happens with the GT3-35001 PS2 also.
I don't know if this is the standard driver, or as up to date as the remote control.
Actually, it was Flynn who 'invented' Space Paranoids.
'President Sheridan' wrote Tron.

And in CounterStrike, Doom, Quake, Tribes, etc etc..
You mean Clu's bit (whom was told to "get out of here!") found Flynn.
That's kinda cool, and explains that "bit" of the movie now..
Tron was denied any Academy nominations because they "cheated" on the visual effects by using computer graphics (from the making-of DVD details).
That was the Academy's opinion, in the day. Imagine that..
