I don't care if some jackass buys a house he can't afford. I do care when that leads to bank failures government bailouts and a stagnant economy. Likewise, I don't care if some douchebag internet company has cool perks.
The Sun binaries are built by paid professionals who wrote and understand the code. The debian package will be built by someone who doesn't understand what he's doing, but commenting out that code prevents compiler warnings so it must be an improvement.
Have you written the code for SVG animation yet? Sure, it takes time and effort, but you have time to complain about it, so what's the problem? And yes, I'm going to ask this on slashdot every time a new Firefox is released until you fix it.
OS X and Desktop linux are gaining mindshare and deskshare. Microsoft needs the rethink their role and what an operating system is. I occasionally run windows via virtualbox (in seamless mode) on my Macintosh. Many others use parallels, VMWare, Wine, etc. Much like NeXT transitioned from an operating system to an API/Framework (running under NT, HPUX, Solaris, OpenStep 4,2, etc), I think MS needs to provide a wine-like solution allowing windows applications to run under other operating systems. This would allow them to keep their Win32 API as a majority standard even as their core OS shrinks into irrelevancy.
He left in 85. Apple's decline was after (much after), not because of. If you look at some of his decisions wrt to Apple III, Lisa, early Macintosh, and even NeXT, it's entirely conceivable he would have driven the company into the ground.
youtube is a huge money sink. They probably can't afford to hire people that have experience in audio compression, test different algorithms, etc. As to why... video and sound quality varies a lot, so they probably are trying to make everything more equal, so the viewer doesn't need to adjust their volume for every video.
Yet the millions of people streaming across the border are ignored. Good job DHS! Good job Congress!
The speech may be free, but you're not free of the consequences.
Good good job there on not comprehending my point., jizzmop.

I've used OpenSolaris (which has containers) under virtualbox without any problems.
Here's two estimated cost breakdowns of the iPhone for comparison. $10 is way out of touch.

but yeah, in the last few months, it's seen some polishing (particularly the Macintosh features).

Too bad we don't have access to the source code :( If this was an open source project, we'd be able to add in features like that.
Apple: down 23% fom their 52 week high
Microsoft: down 30% from their 52 week high
VA Linux: down 66% from their 52 week high
By that standard, C does too: realloc and free need to know the size.
Quake and Doom were developed on NeXTStep 3.3. On hardware with less computational power than an iPhone.
You mut live in a shitty neighborhood or something. Anyhow, does your PC have an accelerometer and a touch sensitive display?
AMEN. Donald Knuth: Don't waste your time writing a book on programming languages.
Why don't you develop an open source FrameMaker clone?
putting a lameness filter on slashdot is like putting a shit filter on your asshole.
I would prefer the word "Liberty".
since before VA LINUX bought them.
That's for downloading an individual copy. Call up Sony and ask them how much a license to distribute a song is.
Do you feel the same when GPL software being illegally distributed?
In my frat, CSO meant Cock Sucking Orgy. We had all the pledges put on wigs and suck us brother off. Fun times.
