Safari isn't FREE (as in herpes), but WebKit is FREE (as in LGPL). It also has a more diverse set of contributors and developers than mozilla (almost all development is by paid mozilla employees and gecko is used in firefox, whereas webkit development is done by Apple, Nokia/Trolltech, KDE, individuals, and WebKit is used in Safari, Nokia, QT, KDE, Android, S60, etc).
It's not just a CD, it's also the (licensed) software on it. When an OEM buys an OEM Windows CD, they're also agreeing to restrictions on its use (and resale).
anybody who didn't read the article yesterday? Seriously, this was reported on yesterday and not some top secret provision. Seems like it would be hard to enforce specific performance like that if the purchasers (there can't be that many) don't want to return it.
if you're using JSON (fairly common now), there's a good chance you're using eval(). Generally, it's overused and can be replaced with other techniques in a modern browser/js interpreter
I've had better response filing bug reports with closed source software than with Open Source. Maybe Mr Closed Source will ignore it, but at least it gets acknowledged, which is 50% better than many open source experiences. blah blah blah labor of love, scratch an itch, ymmv, tanstaafl, tmtowtdi, etc.
That's a good idea. But my version of gcc prints "Rob Malda is a child molester." as the startup banner, so I guess that's part of the C Standard. Oh which version of gcc is the standard? 4.2.1? I hope not, because that one had a buffer overflow. Or is it Apple's fork of it? Oh, and of course gcc isn't the only open source C compiler. In fact, in my undergraduate compilers course, I wrote a C compiler. It doesn't really handle the entire language, but it's open source, so it must be the reference implementation!
Idiotic.... like Debian's openssl "enhancements" that made the random number generator not so random?
OpenStep was available for WindowsNT (and Solaris and HPUX, though those are also Unix).

well, since this is MySQl, the xml functions are probably missing atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability :-)
It's currently at $135, down from $146 due to George Bush's cheerleading for offshore drilling and poor economic predictions.
Buying an official Honda gold-plated logo and putting it on your Ford Fiesta.
Psystar is also redistributing modified versions of Apple security updates.

from a linux support perspective, would you expect to pay more for a desktop version or a server version?

gzip compression is just as effective.

CmdrTaco is gay.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. You beef up the weakest link. The chain still has a weakest link, but the overall strength is raised.
And Wii has outsold the xbox 360. Where's the wii port? It's not like Micrisift has a history of paying for games...
It's a problem if your router uses NAT. Does your router use NAT? Is your DNS server behind the router?
If shaved windows is anything like shaved pussy, it'll be a good thing.
There's another part (which is lacking): relying on that promise causes harm or detriment of some sort.
I just donated some DNA with the help of my slutty neighbor that likes to walk around her apartment topless.
Of the 500 or so apps, 130+ are free (as in $0).
I thought Cowboi Neal had that distinct honor.
Sounds a lot like FOSS. I bet the confusion is intentional, probably a MS/Y! conspiracy to attack Open Source.
