This morning, I overheard two men talking. The first claimed that 1 + 2 equals 100. The other shook was shocked at his ignorance and tried to explain to him that 1 + 2 equals 90.
The moon is moving away from the Earth. If you reverse time, the moon gets closer and closer to the Earth, eventually merging with the Earth. Hence the spinoff/ejection or big impact formation theories. Or maybe the asteroid bombardment pushed it away.
I suggest limiting patent infringement damages to the actual value of the patent. If a non practicing entity (aka troll) buys a patent for, say $5,000, they can't reasonably claim damages in excess of that amount. (Obviously, that's the maximum amount, not the amount as a company could play pricing games to inflate the value).
For a practicing entity (particularly one that invented the patent), establishing the value is more difficult, but they could limit it to stopping the patent infringement plus expenses. A legitimate company uses their patents to differentiate and improve their products so that alone should be sufficient reward.
Chrome does UI changes, too (perhaps not as frequently). Perhaps a month ago, they removed the "+" from the new tab button -- I (and others) thought there was a missing graphic file, but it turns out they removed it due to google+ branding.
But, yeah, firefox would be nicer if there was an _option_ to automatically download and install updates without nagging or getting in your way.
It's not google so much as it's Motorola with Google's blessing.
I'm not going to call Motorola a patent troll because they're not, per se. But they watched competitors (Samsung and Apple) overtake them, they watched their revenue dry up and the red ink flow. And they turned to the dark side.
And this isn't just suing Apple or Microsoft -- they started threatening to sue all the other Android manufacturers before Google bought them for $12 billion.
Can you believe it? It's almost as if Connecticut is not New Jersey and Connecticut tax laws are not the same as New Jersey tax laws and Connecticut sales tax doesn't apply to digital downloads but New Jersey sales tax does!
If the site you're downloading from does not have a physical presence in the state, they can't be required to collect the tax, which makes it more of an honor system since it isn't easily enforceable.
Let's say you lock your car door. Someone comes along, unlocks your car door, and takes a shit on your front seat. Well, locks can be picked and people can shit in inappropriate places (cf Occupy Wall Street), so you can't prevent someone from breaking into your care and taking a shit. But that doesn't excuse anyone who does that. In fact, you could say that they, not the door lock, is the problem.
2.1 billion years ago pre-dates our current continent configuration, it pre-dates Pangea, it pre-dates Rodinia, that's around (or even before) Columbia/Nuna. Three super continents have come and gone since then, so Google maps isn't the proof you're looking for.
MPEG-LA is the SCO of h.264. SCO collected Unix license fees, but the actual copyrights were owned by Novell. Just like the actual h.264 copyrights are owned by Apple, Microsoft, and dozens (hundreds?) of other companies.
Why do people work for "free"? Unless they're forced to do it, they're getting something out of it -- recognition, personal satisfaction, utility, resume padding, to get laid at LUGs, etc. Hell, even if there's a gun at head, you're still getting something out of (i.e., not being killed).
Is it better if someone fixes a bug (for free) in gnumeric because it helps him keep track of all his rape victims vs someone who fixes a bug (for money) in gnumeric because he's being paid to do so?
I started using duck duck go over google a couple weeks ago. If the google search of 8 or 10 years ago (back when I first used it) looked like the google search of today, I wouldn't have used them back then. In no particular order: the new privacy policy, google+ integration, replacing URLs with redirection URLs, and all the rollover javascript crap. Oh, and ignoring what I searched for in favor of what they think I meant.
WINE Is Not an Emulator. It's a reimplementation of the win32 libraries, so win32 applications run without windows. Like a KDE application running in GNOME. Virtual machines will be more accurate/compatible since they're virtualizing the entire windows stack, but they're running within a box.
Also, if you have some legacy win32 source code, you can compile it with the WINE libs for a native application.

Not everyone. There are a few lucky attendees that get to dress up like a well-endowed blonde babe and suck off a everyone else.
I think the "sex with 'her'" is the problem.

Genesis and cosmetology are both creation myths.

TeX isn't a markup language, it's a Turiing-complete programming language.

Maybe they use less data because iPhone apps aren't constantly uploading their gps coordinates and downloading ads. If you look at mobile web traffic, iOS beats android. Even when you factor out the iPad.
yep, sailing the sausage sea, as they say.

And apparently, they no longer spam slashdot with k-splice stories, so something good came out of it.
Whoever wrote that doesn't understand ``cynical'' or ``criticism''.

Is it as rigorous as the background check needed to be hired as a TSA employee?

The M in WebM is for all the Motorola license fees you're going to pay. It's free as in free to get sued by Motorola.

No one has been sued for *downloading* music. You get sued for uploading/distributing/making available.
The home screen display was changed to be more like the iPhone/iPad, but that's software.
