It's not that it's not "ok", it's that it's hypocritical. One argument for the GPL is that people must offer back any changes they make. But if you take BSD code, relicense it to GPL and make changes and don't offer those changes back under the original BSD license.... do as I say, not as I do.

US Government debt has fixed maturities; they can't call it in. They could stop buying new debt(*), they could sell off existing debt, but they can't demand $5 trillion in cash right now.

    * The treasury department has already hit the debt limit and cannot issue any more new debt, in theory. This year, 70% of all new debt was purchased by the federal reserve ("qualitative easing 2"). Helicopter Ben Bernanke would be just as happy to purchase 100% of it because Apple added new features to the iPad without raising the price so that proves there isn't any inflation, nevermind the price of things like food or oil or gold or silver.

Will Apple send a U.S. Tax Form 1099 for my sales?

No. Sales on the App Store are sales by you, the developer of copyrighted works, to end users. Therefore, Apple takes the position that payments made to you for these sales are payments for products or goods, which are specifically exempt from reporting on Form 1099 even though the payments may be taxable income to you.

You are responsible for determining your own tax obligations with respect to these payments. If you are uncertain of your tax obligations, we recommend that you consult with a tax professional.
