try the pinstripes skin, i use it on MOZ 1.1b on OS 10.1.5. and it blends in nicely, not quite Aqua but nice. plus there a variety of other "Aqua" skins available.
IE5.5 is nice but the MOZ is better, now if pixeljerk would make an icon for it it would be perfect.
you thought playing the virtual boy was disorienting.
how do you expect to be able to reach a usible ammount of contrast on a semi translucent screen? im minority report, who would want a clear monitor. it would suck if your were running around fragging and people just kept walking behind your screen, talk about distracting.
long story short, if its not a HUD or something, keep it opaque, if it is a HUD make it translucent.
you obviously havent been to the Apple Store lately.
the ultimate model of the G4 sells for $4,099.00. youd know that if you checked your facts every third millenia or so. and btw if your going to be using shake, your probably going to need the ultimate model plus some scsi drives, lets say 2@72gb. thus bringing our total to $6,049.00, before tax. remember, this is quite cheap compared to what SGI or SUN would charge you. hell the SGI Fuel begins at $11,000. and dont even get me started on the cost of an Octane. real machines cost real money.
now go crawl back into your pc using hole and shut up, you dont know what your talking about.
zip ties are you friend, remember that. if your setup is fairly static, just zip up everything in the back into one nice little bindle and only let cables out where they need to . i do this and it is a night and day difference in terms of noticable clutter. the down side is, what happens if you need to move your computer? or you buy a new monitor, you need to redo all of your hard work... but worth it in my opinion.
oh yeah, velcro works to for a more temporary solution, they make it double sided so you can easily make rings with it.
Kathy McKiernan, an AOL spokeswoman, said Wednesday that the company thought its resources were better devoted to "alternatives that are available to us now such as the hosted IM relationship with Apple."
i just hope that i wont need a.MAC account to use it. but after this news i wouldnt be so sure AOL would allow Apple users to use it for free. although this may be another reason apple was "forced" to implement the pay.MAC service
do you have to remember to shut down the stystem everytime you shut off the car. it could get annoying if every time you had to wait 30 sec to fully kill vehicle power.
on the other hand, if it could run with out the ignition being on, how fast would it drain the battery?
would there be any way to write a script that automaticly shuts down correcctly the system when you shut off the car. I know there are systems for turbos that do a simmilar thing. when you shut down a turbo automobile, especially if you have been driving hard, you are supposed to let the engine idle for 2-5 minutes before killing power. this is to let the hot oil out of the turbo and let every thing cool down properly. there aare turbo timers that continue to run your engine for a desired length of time without a key in the ignition, shutting it off for you. this lets you get out of your car and get on with your day without waiting around for your turbo.
could a similar system be adapted to shut down your automotive pc? how do people deal with this now?
i am interested in doing something similar now, and the shut down prodedure is my main concern.
theres one from mac hack that would make your dock icons bounce up and down in the dock with the music. Unfortunately it rapes the event que, making it difficult to even move the mouse to shut it off. useless but cool.
he dosent show you one way to do things. he does it several ways, with a scientific description of each. I love the little "muppets" that pop up to explain things.
best example is his episode on baking cookies, i think he did like 4-5 variations explaining all of the variables in the CCCokie combination. From the sugar / brown sugar ratio to the cook time / heat ratio, to the butter used. its the most memorable to me.
if you havent seen his show, you missing out, its not just a slurry of concepts and vocab, theres a fair mix of humor as well. also good is Food 911, where the guy goes to peoples houses and prepares meals with whats on hand. ive learned several recipies from that show. best of all he tells you what to use if you dont have a specific ingredient on hand, good theory + simple ingredients = good show.

The quote came from Apple's Q3 Financial Analyst Meeting Q&A. From that broadcast, here is the entire quote in context:
(5m 40s) Steve Jobs was asked about porting Mac OS X to Intel:
Steve Jobs: "The roadmap on the PowerPC actually looks pretty good and there are some advantages to it. As an example, the PowerPC has something in it called AltiVec, we call the Velocity Engine -- it's a vector engine -- it dramatically accelerates media, much better than, as an example, the Intel processors or the AMD processors... so we actually eek out a fair amount of performance from these things when all is said and done. And the roadmap looks pretty good. Now, as you point out, once our transition to Mac OS 10 is complete, which I expect will be around the end of this year or sometime early next year and we get the top 20% of our installed base running 10, and I think the next 20 will come very rapidly after that. Then we'll have options, then we'll have options and we like to have options. But right now, between Motorola and IBM, the roadmap looks pretty decent. "... so it looks like discussions of OS X on Intel/AMD may be a premature. (despite repeated speculation on this topic)
considering the GC is just a an IBM PPC chip similar to the popular G3 PPC chip, and an ATI gpu that i heard was supposed to be on par with the 8500 chip, it should not be terribly difficult to modify existing Linux PPC code that runs on a B/W G3 with an ati card. Since the IBM chip does not include AltiVec and since Linux PPC dosent support it (i dont think) the existing code should be close.
of course the only difficult part will be the media. couldnt you reverse the polarity on the platter motor of the CD burner to make it spin the opposite way while burning? is the data being written dependant on the direction of travel of the disk? i thought it was just a stream of data to the laser and a spinnind disk (horribly simplified, but...). the panasonic Q offers support for full sized media so that shouldnt be to big of a problem.
As it appears to me there was more standing in the way of linux on the DC. GD ROM format wasnt exactly standard.
do i think well see it, i hope so. Do i think we'll have reversed engineered software legaly running on the xbox first, yes.
as a Maya on Mac user it is slow, partially because i only have a G4 400 / rage 128 pro. Dont get me wrong this is still a decent setup for 70% of my usage (eg. internet, email, web design, internet, did i mention internet, etc...)
The other problem is OSX is sluggish with everything! its not A|W's fault its slow. Hopefully 10.2 will clear up the second problem with added speed.
mow i really wish A|W would port studio tools to OSX as well, i much prefer it to Maya, which i only use for modeling anyways.
the two that come to mind as striking examples are "a beautiful mind" and "Pi"
im sure ther're others. theories? other movies? is it just a trend?

thats gotta be one strange gaming experience.
