    Audi uses aluminum frames in, i believe, all of their vehicles. most notably in the A8 line of super sedans and their A2 line of sub compacts.

    or, look at how OSX handles this issue. If an aplication being installed requires root privledges it requires a preset root password. There is no need to run root, it runs it for you with the password. As for complexity, on OSX there are drag and drop installations off of disk images, and there are double click installers. So easy my mother could do it, and she cannot even get on the internet on our gateway/win98!

    the other issue i see is installing from source. unless you can make this a double click graphical process, people wont do it. its as simple as that.

    i think what linux needs is something to complete this equation...

    Aqua enables Unix like...
    XXXX enables Linux.

    just look at what Aqua and OSX are doing for Unix, theyre getting real people(pun intended) to use it, after it being around for decades.

    that and users dont want to hear about kernals or CLIs or anything remotely tech related. they want to poke at pretty buttons and make things 'magicly' happen.

    im stil waiting for a reason to get an x box. i havent seen a game that i just must have. to tell you the truth im content with my Dreamcast, because frankly it has better games than any of the three "current" systems, although there are a few exceptions. as for "h4x0r" add ons go to dcemulation.com. the only reason im getting a PS2 this weekend is so i can have a DVD player other than my computer.

    the xbox hasnt sold me yet, let me know when theres something game related that comes up that might change my mind.

    PPC chips are generally more efficient than their x86 counterparts, which makes tham a low tco option for universitys. i wonder what benefit they would have had if they used Motorolas newer mobile G3 processors. and already efficient chip designed for an ultra efficient environment.

    you need to go here. Ive had not one problem in 20 years discerning the value of currency, on the fly. I was so good at it, they even ley ne tend the cash drawer at the hardware store, but i digress.

    I know the programming contest winner gets a tour of your facility, but I think I speak for all of us when I say, I wanna see it too!

    It would be great if you did a documentary feature with TechTv or someone, because its one thing to read about your facility, but it would be another to see it.

    Thanks for all of the help I've gotten from Google.com, I don't think I'd still be in schol without it.

    the DATAPLAY does come in case. my buddys dad recieved a sample one, and it looks just like a mini minidisk. its literally the size of a bottle cap. truly cool

    no, these processors/architechtures are just not cost effective for desktop use. its not there is little need it is that the need does not justift the cost.

    the greatist part of the iPod is the seamless software/hardware integration. where is that here?

    with the iPod had the in line remote though:( oh well maybe soon, if you inspect the headphone jack there appears to be three unused contacts arround it. rumors have been on the iPod sites that apple will release an external control for it but nothing official yet. maybe this will bring it to market sooner.
