    Well..

I have used Solaris on both SPARC and x86 since the dawn of SUN. I have also used Linux since version 0.92 of the kernel, i.e more than 10 years...

There is not much left in Solaris that you can't find in Linux. Esp when you look at the x86 version. I would rather say that Solaris for x86 is a good thing for SUN shops that want to standarize on Solaris. for the rest of us, it does not bring anything new to the table. There are some features in the SPARC version that would be nice in Linux, but they are very SUN dependent and does not implement easy on other architectures. Else I would say Linux has caught up nicely to most commercial *NIX'es (I also work regularly with AIX, HP-UX, IRIX and various other flavours).

It would really be interesting to see what the moonbats think Linux need from Solaris x86.

Simply because it has to be adapted to local laws in all countries it will be sold in, differences in accounting practices etc. You need patches for every country and every minor change in laws. You need support 24/7 since it is a vital product for most companies, withouit it running, you have no idea who owes you money and vice versa etc.

You pay the rake to the casino and unload thick wads of money from other "unsuspecting" tourists who have seen poker on TV :) Never left Las Vegas without a nice paycheck, so to speak, but I never play slots, roulette or any other game designed to give the casino an edge. If you lose money in a casino, you have nodbody but yourself to blame. learn about the various games before you play and know which ones give the best chances of payback or stear clear of all the sucker games.

I never drink and drive. I promised myself that when I got my drivers license in 1977 and have kept that promise. Driving while stoned is totally different, you don't take chances, you are very careful when you drive and you tend to drive slower, not slow, but slower than when you are not stoned. I have no problems driving a car stoned, but I would never dream of driving one after drinking.

The problem with understanding this, is that you need to have been stoned and drunk in order to do so. That is when you realize the diffference in state of mind between beeing drunk and beeing stoned. I can do my job stoned, no problems, but after a couple of beers, there is no way in hell I could do it.
