If you need anything larger, I suggest you fork over a few millions for one of these babies. Just 2.5Tb of solid state memory disk and with a pricetag of $4.7 million....
I bought a new AMD64 system with an ATi 9200SE card a few weeks ago (yes, I'm not a HUGE gamer, so the card is fine with me) and it's running fine under X-windows (xorg-x11 6.7.0) using the radeon driver supplied with X11. And NO, I don't play games under Linux, but under Windows. ATi is supposed to come out with their binary 64-bit drivers this summer. If you can't wait for these drivers, i.e it is vitally important, if not life saving, that you can run native ATi 64-bit drivers under Linux RIGHT NOW, then yes, ATi is not for you. But, if you are like me (and most others) and doesn't consider this to be a life-threathning issue, then ATi cards works fine under pure 64-bit Linux.
LOLOLOLOLOL
That is so funny! Why on earth would you remove glibc? You are aware that every other program on your box is depending on glibc?
Try to remove glibc on any other Linux distro and see what happens! That is not something special to Gentoo.
Removing glibc says more about the user than about a distro!
Lol...
My first thought was: You must be new! Editors reading the article? You mean/. editors! ROFL...
Then I saw your last comment and realized you had discovered that you were reading/. and not NY Times!
That is just to funny!
You try to deflate the argument about every gnome package starts a G and your sig says:
"gnaughty [sourceforge.net] - easy free porn"
Maybe not every program, but at least the one you promote! LOLOLOL
I don't think we will see huge lawsuites on this issue in EU since their judical system is not based on the type of litigation that exists in the US. You will never see a typical US lawsuite (I.e no $250 million in settlement) in EU. This is something that is unique to USA.
I guess since Gentoo uses tar.bz2, that is the cause you don't like Gentoo?
And 'emerge program' is easier than your world. It will:
a) Check and install all dependencies of 'program'
b) Unpack the source, run configure, make and install the 'program' for you.
c) Portage allows you to have several versions of a program installed due to it's use of slots.
Not beeing a Gentoo zealot, but I don't see how your argument is valid.
I know I'm stoned right now, but damn, what the heck is parent talking about? "Franco-Sweedish-Hungarian-Israeli border"? What the fu*k is that? And "US-UK-Singapore border."???
Brother, whatever you are smoking right now, hook me up!!!!
Hmmm... This is news to me.
As far as I can see, every game producer is constantly producing new games. If they did not get paid for making these games, how come they continue to produce new titles?
I think we need to be a bit serious here. Yes there are people who pirate games, some sell them for profit, but I think the wast majority is just putting them out there for free. Now, how many people run pirated games compared to people who run games they bought? I think it is somewhere along the lines of 99% is bought and 1% is pirated. How many of Joe User do you think is capable of finding, downloading and installing pirated games? Heck, Joe User has problems downloading and installing a new version of AIM let alone get hold of a pirated game.
I'm all for clamping down on software piracy, but I think we need to get a perspective on this and not act as if these groups means the end to game producers, because that is not the case.
On any *nix system (as root):
rm -f telnet
ln -s ssh telnet
Problem solved!
The point is to not allow programs like telnet to run on any machine but use ssh all over. For morons, linking ssh to telnet is a nice way of giving them what they want without really giving it to them!
Well, my experience is that 2.6 is much more snappy than 2.4 and I have seen no mouse lagging that you are talking about and I do run an Oracle database on my machine too.
When that is said, I also have to mention that I use a different scheduler than what is mentioned here, I use CFQ (Completly Fair Queueing) found in the Andrew Mortons mm-patches and started with the following argument to the kernel:
elevator=cfq
Not sure where to get those patches, but under Gentoo you can get it with "emerge mm-sources"
For the average desktop users using either KDE or Gnome or similar, I have found that CFQ gives a more snappy desktop than AS or deadline.

But the best part about Gentoo is the Forums, it has an incredible friendly userbase with a lot of knowledgable people who are willing to help you out with anything, even questions about other distros and Windows. How many other Linux user forums do that?
Well, I have a Dell P4 2.4Ghz PC and the CPU is capable of hypertreading but it is disabled by default and Dell will not make a BIOS (I guess Intel told them NO) that enables HT on that CPU. If LinuxBios would, I'd switch from the bad Dell BIOS to Linux BIOS in a heartbeat.
Well, beeing modded as a Troll is more of an honor here than anything, so I can only say Thank You.
Apart from the mods and posters here that can't see longer than their own nose, I can also inform you that I live in Orlando Florida and not in any far away overseas country:)
The point is that the world is much more than the US, but it fails to register with people here in the US. Everything is about the US and most people couldn't care less what happens anywhere else, which is why the news channels pumped us full of Martha Stewart for 24 hours after her verdict as if there wer no other news in the world. Puts a bit of perspective on what is important I guess. Feel free to give me more Troll ratings I need it since my karma is excellent!
Not every person in the world think killing people is the only answer to any problem. Thank god that Texas has only so many people. And I guess the population is decreasing quickly based on your post.
The biggest problem with people from USA is that they think the only way of handling anything is the US way. I understand it is a problem to be deaf, blind, mentally challenged and arrogant at the same time, and I petty you since your world view is so blinded by hatred for your next of kin.

Welcome to the USA, land of the free! *phew*
And why is it again that you need telnet to do this?
It's obvious you don't know how ssh works.
On any *nix system (as root):
rm -f telnet
ln -s ssh telnet
Problem solved!

Where is the logic?

Sounds like a condom to me :)
The problem is of course that 90% of the worlds PC's are not used for gaming but for work primarily.
In Soviet Russia they implant mouse brains in humans.

Not me for sure, I'm just looking forward to the day where he becomes Bubbas bitch for the next 20 or so. There is no way in hell I want him dead.
