The one and only time I had a Windows machine infected was some malware that got installed without my knowledge via Java Web Start. I have never let that be on a computer of mine since. I've never had that happen via the Java plugin (which, BTW, I don't allow to run by default in FF and Chrome).
November 2015: "Now safely tucked away at our launch site in West Texas is the rarest of beasts—a used rocket,” said Jeff Bezos.
December 2015: Elon to Jeff: "Mine is bigger than yours"
January 2016: Jeff to Elon: "I can get mine up again, can you?"
I won't use Chrome again until there is a reliable way to prevent extensions from auto-updating. I got tired of finding out "surprise!" that something that worked yesterday is no longer around because the extension has gone "pay".
I didn't find them slow at all. However, I would have loved to see real 2nd and 3rd generation characters, rather than inventing life-extension and keeping the same old group around.
All those great new features... "and more"! I can't just wait to install the very first version of their completely re-architected software on my system to find out what "more" they will do to me!
The movie took lots of liberties and simplified (or eliminated) many of the detailed explanations in the book. Don't look at the movie for scientific accuracy; it isn't. The movie is a product of Hollywood after all.
The movie took lots of liberties and simplified (or eliminated) the detailed explanations in the book. In the book Watney explained that he had live soil that he used to "seed" the compost/dirt mixture.
I would just switch to Chrome if disabling the "auto-update all the time" wasn't such a chore. In particular, the auto-updating of extensions without my control ticks me off; I've had several where the author removed features that I depended upon.
Editor's note: I just got back from a busy weekend to see that a bunch of people are freaking out that we're "burying" this story, so here it is. Go hog wild. Sorry it took so long.
You said "sorry it took so long" but your excuse in the article doesn't match what you just said down here. It's long on bogosity.
Grouping Hybrids and EVs together is just dumb. They aren't the same "type" of car. (and in my book, the Volt is a Hybrid).
I've been driving a LEAF for a year and I hope to never go back to a car with an ICE. Free fuel (solar and charging at work) beats cheap gas every time.
We're really considering replacing our 10 year old minivan with a Model S at this point. The space inside that car is incredible.
Try the OsmAnd -- open source app that uses the Open Street Maps data. Better than any of the proprietary sites and apps. Offline support is excellent.
Lots of people should find torrents of popular movies and just get the "README" or "NFO" files in them, but not the actual movie. That way, when they get your IP as a participant in the torrent and to sue you for (downloading &) uploading the movie, you will have nicely defensible case.
Someone mod this up.

Does it really need to be watched in real time?

You've obviously never been on the receiving end of a lawsuit discovery looking for old emails.

Why were the removal instructions provided as a word document? They couldn't just have a simple web page with pictures?
How about raising questions of not using spell-check?

Read the book. It's far more rewarding.

The movie took lots of liberties and simplified (or eliminated) the detailed explanations in the book. The book did not use plastic and duct tape.
The Softpedia article claims
"Only Android devices are affected, iOS users are safe"
The paper cited only describes the vulnerabilities in terms of being researched on Android. Nowhere does it say that iOS cannot have these problems.
I didn't even see anything to this effect in the CERT postings.
Will this stop them of dreaming of electric sheep?
Or did the poster mean "Android phones"?
There is no such thing as free money.
"is being developed by a team of engineers" ==> "is being designed by a team of engineers"
It's just a paper design.

Sync isn't even a good idea. I don't want my professional browser to pick up ANYTHING from my home browser.
Mod this up, please!

Don't they just always have him regenerate and replace him with another actor?
This just in: FTC discovers that Macy's employees really don't refer their shoppers to Gimbels.
