I had the same problem until I noticed that my chipset drivers were not being compilied into the kernel! (make oldconfig from 2.4-->2.6 is no good as a lot of the options have had name changes). Now it is so much faster than 2.4, I don't think I could go back.:)
Wonder if this will help mozilla's memory footprint? Even for people like me who like to have the mail and browser open at the same time (hopefully they won't each take up X-ram)

I think I may be moving over to that from the vanilla releases of 2.6.
I have whipped up a little website with nearly just that! :^)

For older hardware, this is not an option as winxp requires far more resources than win98.
Get your Patched BIND for Slackware here:
The more ISPs that use this, the more uncommon the SiteFinder 'service' becomes---the less users expect it.
Remember when popups where not expected? After using mozilla for a while I simply cannot stand them now!

Loral Skynet site has no mention of this yet, but supposedly Telstar 8 was already scheduled to replace T4 Already at the T4? Did I miss the T2?
Check out this If you use Slackware, don't like verisign's sitefinder, and run DNS.

What are you talking about? Broadband IS in far more locations than Kansas City, Wichita, and Topeka. Oh maybe you are refering to SBC's broadband.
that picture of a bowel of water on top of an open pc tower case is not something I would necessarily run....
Bowels of water on his PC, this is something I definitely DON'T want to see!
