    Once MS has a decent marketshare you better believe the Ashlee's new single will only be in MS store for $2 for the first month. Then available everywhere for $1 later. Another major store is obviously huge lever for the music industry.

    I think the music cartels are getting a bit nervous of Jobs & Co. setting their pricing for them. The only reason cartels exisits is manipulate pricing. If Microsoft were savvy they might be able to find a way to exploit this unhappiness.

    I would check the ring volume. If the mode=="silent" then that is probably your problem. The hour calls are probably accidently knocking in your purse. Hope that helps. Next week on Ask Slashdot, I think my boyfriend is cheating on me what should I do?

    8-10 months probably a little longer but the amazing thing is the entire accessory market. The standard dock connector is the piece that locks you in tight. With all the speakers and car adapters I have, I won't mind getting a new ipod as long the dock connector is backwards compatitable.

    WMA. Microsoft wants its media formats to become the industry standards. DRM and media formats are huge levers into new markets and strong anchors for desktop market. If the ipod supported WMA I would expect MS would be perfectly fine with letting Apple have the entire WMA Player hardware market. I think it is FairPlay that concerns them most.

    I think that is the point. Creative people are risk takers by nature. Business people are risk adverse. Business takes over, risk adverse thinking takes over, creative people pushed aside. Old days risk are taken because it cool and new. Lots of flops and some amazing games like Qbert come out.

    I don't you are factoring in the vast costs associated with monitoring all of this traffic. A penny per email or text msg seems like a small price to pay for homeland security. Think about, no seriously think about it.

    They should do more than give the software to the Brits they should open source it. I want a flight simulator running the exact same code the actually fighter runs. When the aliens come I will drive my RV to a desert airbase, jump in one of these bad boys and use it to inject a virus into the aliens mainframe causing it to self-destruct. That is the power of open source.
