That's why the crew should have pistols and shotguns to go with the rifles. Personally, I'd rather fight it out than willingly become a hostage. Why is that concept so bothersome to so many people?
Because many people are fucking cowards and instead of admitting their cowardice they'd rather believe that their cowardly position is somehow morally superior.
Man that sucks. I feel for you. I live 46 miles from work but I work at night and use backroads. My drive usually takes just under an hour. The downside is that I have to clean the bugs off of my windshield twice a day.
My solution to high gasoline prices: I parked the truck and bought a 1973 VW Type 1.
Of course, the smart people will be waiting outside the house with said high powered rifle as their door is getting kicked in.
It is about time someone said this. "When the stormtroopers come knocking" only an idiot would be unable to find a better tactical position than inside the house.
Note that the workers are paid $2 per day. In the US you'd have to pay at least $5.75 (or whatever minimum wage is) per hour. Profitable ? Not so much.
§ 9.61. PARENT-CHILD. (a) The use of force, but not deadly force, against a child younger than 18 years is justified: (1) if the actor is the child's parent or stepparent or is acting in loco parentis to the child; and (2) when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is necessary to discipline the child or to safeguard or promote his welfare. (b) For purposes of this section, "in loco parentis" includes grandparent and guardian, any person acting by, through, or under the direction of a court with jurisdiction over the child, and anyone who has express or implied consent of the parent or parents.
It is painfully obvious that most of you have no clue what this is. The rig itself is just one (minor) part of the package. The important, GPLed component here is the control interface for the rig. It is written in MaxScript. No, it will never work on blender, truespace, lightwave, XSI... none of them.
From an animator's perspective this is a valuable package if you use 3dsMax which includes a rather significant number of animators. Unfortunately, it does me no good as I use Lightwave.
I hear this complaint all the time but very rarely actually see it happen with the notable exception of #debian on freenode. I will admit that the times that I have seen it done ( and done it myself ) is when I can type the user's question into google and get the answer on the first page of hits.
It's interesting to see the difference in opinions on this from folks in US vs those in UK. I'm in the US, Texas to be specific and my geek-gear is carried in the same gear-bag as my gun, ASP baton, handcuffs, etc.
I think of all the suggestions (barring being able to defend yourself physically), the 'attitude' suggestions tend to work the best. Believe me, if you feel like a target i guarantee you look like one too. I suggest self-defense training. Even if you never actually use physical tactics, the confidence of knowing you CAN defend yourself helps prevent you from looking like a victim.
What's special about RedHat?
-easy, pretty, rediculous volume of distro-specific docs
Mandrake?
-easy, pretty, close enough to RH for the docs to be practically interchangable, IMO, the best distro for newbies that just want it to work
Slack?
-IMO, the best distro for simplicity and for people who WANT to know how it all works
for the most part you generally have to edit config files yourself to administer it
Yeah, my main desktop machine and my laptop both run Mandrake 9.0 (for simplicity and prettiness) but I still wind up editing config files. I don't have to (Mandrake has excellent GUI config utils) but, i guess if you know how to, it's just faster and easier to pop open a terminal window edit a config file and restart a service.
Man, I haven't thought about XTree in years. You are absolutely right though, it was the best. I think that was the first filemanager I ever used that had zip support. I loved that thing.

Chevrolets have four tires. (something they stole from Ford)
Wow. Based on that logic it should be perfectly okay for me to kill you and take your stuff.
I never thought I'd see an LGF link on slashdot.
Wow. I've never had one with the "sane" feature.

one person developed games with less than 10 months development time. You are obviously not a game developer.
Actually, it didn't work. The whole movie centered around a guy who defeated that security measure.
I think the OP meant that you'd not have to upgrade or otherwise change the room cooling.
User: "The same error message pops up every time i try to do x. I've seen that damned message a thousand times."
Tech: "What did the message say?"
User: "I Don't know."

Global Warming On Mars - I suppose that's due to all the industry and automobiles (esp. those damned SUVs) up there.
Downloading DVDs isn't illegal.
Downloading DVDs aren't...oh wait...nevermind.
It depends what you're installing the distro for. ... because they are all headless;
agreed. I've got 2 boxes in my house like that. one public server, one private. Sometimes 'simple' is EXACTLY what's called for.

ps.I'm downloading Slackware 9 right now
Afghanistan had nothing to rebuild.
Well, the least we could do is pile the rocks back up like they were.
The king was and will always be XTree

people not understanding what they were doing
These are the people that I would prefer not vote.OO..I think I spotted an error in net/sch_prio.c at line 217...back up...wait...pause..no...I was mistaken...it's right..
