We had the same problem on Gentoo. ATi is to blame. Because the reason of your problems is, that the driver is not compatible with the newest versions of Xorg (<=1.7).
We here had to mask xorg-1.7.x and all those packages, and reinstall the latest non-masked ones, to get it to work again:
So why do you still watch TV in the first place? Go to eztv.it, or btjunkie.org, and let the stuff download on your home server. Fire-and-forget style. I even download whole shows. All series.
It’s like a Tivo. Only that it’s free, and people manually removed the ads for you.:)
I still use a remote and a big screen. Just that they are attached to my PC. (And that the screen is 9 feet wide and the sound is 5.1:)
And what about reality? Do you have to hack reality too, to get back to a reasonable volume?:P
I would say: “Fix your ears!”. But unfortunately, medicine does not care or want to fix things, and only sells you symptom treatments. So I have to say: If you need a hearing aid, get one. Because reality ain’t gonna adapt itself to you. Sorry, man.
Uuum, must have been back in 2000. I got the 5800, and Nokia phones have had a normal jack for a loooong time. (2001 or so.)
But about the volume. Yes, it’s not that loud. But the highest setting is definitely loud enough. I nearly never use it. Maybe it’s because I use $150 headphones... The first thing I do with every new device, is throw away the “headphones”.
Wow, you really bought into their fake argument about protecting us, did you? ^^
The real reason may be the listening in traffic. But who would profit from this?
Because there always is one profiting. (Not necessarily money. Can also be power, etc.) Because that is what the motivation comes from in the first place.
Modern personal players are seen as more dangerous than stationary players or old-fashioned cassette or disk players because they can store hours of music [...]
Because my Walkman with a dozen cassettes in the backpack, and my MP3 CD player couldn’t do that...
[...] and are often listened to while in traffic with the volume very high to drown out outside.
I am intrigued and invite you to join our Evil Overlords World Domination Club.
Our plan is evil. Man, it is so evil! It is a bad, bad plan, that will hurt many people that are good! I think it’s great, because it’s so bad!
Prerequisites to enter: - An evil lair (preferably under a volcano). - At least 100 minions (get the starter pack today!) or 10 lifeforms with super-powers. - Super-secret secret super-weapon. - Read the club rules. - And most importantly: An evilness of at least 10,000 on the trough-the-roof Schwarzschild scale!
We also have a dress code. But as long as you look really evil, you’re welcome.:)
The thing is: I worked in that business since 2000, and I have yet to see someone actually use JS on the server side. We just use Java, PHP, and maybe some CGIs.
The EA boss would prefer people bought their games, of course. 'I don't think anybody should pirate anything,' he said. 'I believe in the artistry of the people who build [the games industry.] I profoundly believe that.
Yeah right. EA has as much to do with artistry, as rape has to do with “making love”. If anyone has perverted that art more than anyone else, it’s EA.
My sources: Two people who worked there, stories about e.g. the Bullfrog team quitting right after being bought, lawsuits because of the illegal sweatshops that they call “programming teams”, and their all-around lack of any love and innovation in all of their games.
As a game maker, I rather turn down $15 million dollar from them, than having to let my ideas being raped by them, to propitiate the money god.
Huh, halt the comment just went *poof*. WTH happened there? Here the full comment again:
What the hell is “garlic salt”? Isn’t that just garlic and salt? But how much of it is garlic then? What the hell is “garlic salt”? Isn’t that just garlic and salt? But how much of it is garlic then?
Oh, and by the way: 1. If you use fresh ingredients, it will taste way better! (Or deep-frozen. But not dried or heated or something. But take more if it’s fresh because of the additional water in it.) 2. If you put the seasoning *below* the skin of the chicken, with a bit of butter, it will become even greater. 3. I prefer real herbes de Provence and a bit or garlic instead. Best taste ever. (If done right.)
How this is on-topic you ask? Well it’s cracking of an open-source recipe an as an analogy for protocol cracking that ’re talking about here. Isn’t it obvious? ^^
Video, or it didn’t happen!
Ah, damnit. I meant >=1.7! That’s what you get for posting without previewing, once a year. ;)

Yes, it’s a huge nasty messy pile of shit. And I’m very happy to dump fglrx forever, as soon as the radeon driver gains full 3D functionality.
Then it will become illegal to sell headphones outside of a specific efficiency range. Yay. :/
But hey, the point of this was not to limit the volume. The point was for someone to gain power or money. Find the one and you have found the answers.

Lol. What stops me from just downloading the “full game with all DLC packages” torrent, as soon as it’s available? ^^
Tell that to Verizon. ^^
It would be nice if that validation was standardized and built-in.
That would be ass-backwards, and as bad as configuring your firewall to accept everything, except for some blocked ports.
The proper way is defined in the spec: It defines only what is allowed. Not what is not allowed.
And actually it’s quite simple too:
JSON is essentially only JS literals, and does not contain functions (which are not literals). That’s it. The result is pure data, and no logic.
With Haskell that would be harder, since Haskell does not know the difference between functions and data. (Functions are data to it.) ^^
The thing is: I worked in that business since 2000, and I have yet to see someone actually use JS on the server side. We just use Java, PHP, and maybe some CGIs.
Maybe you’ve heard of this concept called “trust network”. ^^
It’s very useful to weed out bad choices. :)
You mean the number of applications for Win7 running on ARM... which is exactly ZERO! ^^
You should not make wild speculations, and then use them as a straw-man argument. We never talked about Win7. We talked about ARM and ARM OSes.
And why Linux is the best choice for ARM-based systems.
Yeah, but Occam’s razor slits their throats before they know it. ^^

My father had that 30 years ago. It’s called Afghanistan! ^^
*hits Quiet_Desperation in the face with a log*
Yeah, because you know exactly how many trees were in all of North America, before we arrived there!
Just saying...
looool! That’s the best punchline I read here, for a looong time. XD
Or what makes a great hooker? ^^
I know such a girl in RL. She’s weird though, and I don’t want anything from her.
Seems this is nothing unusual for young girls.
