So you think that *proper* CSS 2.1 (3?), XHTML 1.1, DOM 3, SVG, clean minimalistic ui and tabs, popup blocker, adblocker and tons of other plugins are nothing worthwile and that firefox is an unstable memory hog?

    *lol*

Building sites with any browser before mozilla 0.8 and newer versions of opera (including ANY version of IE) was a sheer *nightmare* of tables and transparent pixels, woven in style (font- and similar tags!) declarations and general non-working chaos.
Using those sites with it was looking at *really* ugly sites while living in popup- and advertisement-hell.

Sure Netscape 3 could be fast without including any of nowadays technology and being just an ugly hack of the W3C-standards.

About your stability rant: You're just writing the same wrong crap some poeple like to rant about for the last 3 years, and you *know* it.
You know that FF is no memory hog but has a feature (wich i appreciate btw), so you can restore tabs and go backwards trough your history more quickly (= without reloading the whole thing). And you can disable that if you don't like it. Try changing such internal settings (=design decisions) with any other browser.
And you simply keep ignoring it.
I don't know where you got the rest from, but the only crashes and memory losses i had were from crappy plugins. I found a blacklist, disabled them, and i was back to normal.
    And you're ignoring that too.

The simple fact is: If you want more features, you *have* to use more resources. And if not... well, there's still netscape 3 for you.
It's the same thing as with java: Automatic buffer-overflow-protection, garbage collection and bytecode OR absolute 100% speed. You can't have both. But you can choose.

Am I doing something wrong/different by using SQLgrey(listing), Spamassassin with ClamAV and bayesian filtering enabled (maybe plus Razor, Pyzor, DCC),
and not disabling the local bayes-filter in my Thunderbird?

It's like Adblock for Firefox. I just wonder... what are those annoances they're talking about?

Could someone clarify this a bit for me: What's the actual problem? Users and hosters too stupid or too lazy to use existing and working filters?
If they don't care enough to find out how to get rid of the spam, then they should also stop complaining. I You can't have both, right?

Madbe the root of this is a principle of being human driven ad absurdum: If you are worse than others you don't lose in the big game of natural selection anymore... no, you simply complain the ass out of pseudo-social poeple that you want to stay lazy and still get it all, until they (unfairly) support you *because* you were worse.
This of course would mean de-evolution and penalization of everybody who did better... but hey... if it works and non-lazy poeple will die out, then again it's just "their way" of winning the game of life.

But i certanly won't like or accept it without fighting. ;)

    - some mikes, instruments, some acoustic stuff for the walls of the room where you record maybe. stuff like that (maybe even only one mike and a guitar with inner mike if you're jack jones ;) or
    - some "software studio" like reason, some vst-plugins, stuff like that, and depending on your usage one, two good midi-controllers (keyb, knobs, faders...)

Most of it (in terms of cash) you already own(pc), could be bought for cheap (midi-controllers, plugins, mikes, elen instruments) or is a one-time investition (bigger software and instruments).

If you you use a "free" copy (you know what i mean) untilyour first money comes in, and own most of the stuff, you can get away pretty cheap.

In fact everybody else gets that right too, but only of a user who spend his money for a copy gives it away for free.
If he thinks that's right, then go on... But if he spend hundrets or more dollars he will want something for it. And he will be protected by my license to be allowed to do that.
Same thing for someone who spend even more (aka "investor"?): He is allowed to earn money with it.
BUT: He is not allowed to even complain about other payers giving it away for free.

That way i always get the money i need.
And if i see that the development is too expensive for someone to pay for it, i have to work more efficient, drop the price, or cancet the project and give the donators their money back if they don't want the source of what is done already.
On the othor hand: if i see that i get much donations because of "public interest" i can raise the price, and make the game and my life even better. This will be my right because poeple paying say "he yeserves it". If not they'll stop paying and i go back to normal.
