Hey, that reminds me: The only thing it has in common with pharma company products, is that they also only target the symptoms, and never the causes.;)
(Because, how else are you going to milk their money til the end of all time?)
Man, you just shot yourself in the foot. Let’s keep it short:
Herbalism = using plants with natural active ingredients = obviously scientifically proven to work. (Example: Marijuana.) Homeopathy = diluting until by definition pure water = obviously scientifically proven not to work. (Example: Pure water. [In fact the only example.])
Isn’t pretty much half the medication in existence stemming from herbal medicine? I mean isn’t it the usual way to find some plant or fungus somewhere that has some substance that is then extracted or synthesized to create drugs (first the illegal kind, and then by just flipping a van-de-waals bonding, the legal one;).
Just go an play some online games. Preferably RPGs. Then you automatically come into contact with people from all over the world. Most of them speak English anyway. But often secondary languages like Spanish help too. And after a while, you will have them in your instant messenger, and talk about life and things. But I promise you, that it will be more interesting than talking to somebody on Slashdot. ^^
Oh, and by the way: I wonder if you can already find someone with the name Achmet on that site, having his status set to (deceased);)
Yes, one has to calculate all the effects it has on everything.
But your logic about methane is strongly flawed.
As demand rises, costs will come down.
You mean like the price of oil comes down with the rising demand? And you mean like oil was extremely abundant, 100 years ago? ^^
Wait a couple of decades, and the methane is gone. It will be much faster than expected, because growth is exponential.
The thing is: It is simply no long-term solution. It’s just using up yet another resource, without thinking more than around the next corner.
There really is only one resource that we can use that way: Plain sunlight. That’s it. Everything else we use, must be renewed with the use of sunlight. Trees, land, chemicals, water, air, wind,... Everything.
Which is harder than it looks, because one has to keep the natural cycles in balance. Even those inside our body. Or else something will die, that we won’t be able to renew with sunlight.
But it’s actually a very cool concept: Zero-effect industry / economy. Not in the short term, but in the long term. Similar to how in quantum physics, something impossible can exist, as long as it does’t exist for too long. The net effect is still zero.
While I agree with pretty much everything you said, the “faster” is not true for Ruby. I’ve seen tons of tests, and Ruby is veeeery slow. It’t quite a feat to be even slower than PHP, but it is. (Oh, and Python is not much faster too.)
But that low (12-25 times slower than C) that’s not that relevant anymore anyway. Since if one cares for speed, one wouldn’t use any of those languages anyway.:)
So breasts are allowed, but showing a woman's nipple turns it from a normal (ok, maybe slightly more-than-normal) show of skin into "OMG!!! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!"
It’s even more ridiculous, because by definition every child has seen and sucked a breast a hundred times.
It’s hypocrisy at its best, and frankly, we here in Germany/France laugh our asses off about it.;) (Of course we have our own share of bullshit social conditioning.)
So you are arguing with the well-known logic fallacy of “x is bad, but y is worse, so x must be aww-right”. No it’s not. It’n not better. That would be like saying: if y_t > x_t then x_t' > x_t.
You are not the one who decides on its legality! Also, isn’t vigilante justice illegal for a reason?
You call the cops because you think it might be illegal. The cops then also just bring the person in front of a judge, because they think it might be illegal, and because they have the power. And the judge, in a proper process, checks if it fits the laws and hence is illegal, because he has the competence. (At least in theory.)
In any case, you and the cops got no business in judging over other people.
Uuum, I’ve seen my share of student parties, where you couldn’t get in, unless you were young and had a student ID. And there are enough other things that you can’t do if you’re older. So your whole argument is based on selective picking of one-sided arguments.
Depends on your p.o.v.. If everybody knows the bug, and uses it, it becomes another game. Which sometimes is better than the original. Look up Quake 3 CPMA and Defrag (especially Shaolin Productions and CeTuS), to know what I mean.
The Leonidas botnet and the Techno Viking botnet team up to fight the Vin Diesel botnet and the Mr T botnet. The winner gets to rip Chuck Norris apart.
All that you see when you use just Windows 7, should in no way ever go over 256 MB! All the rest is bloat. Like using 64-bit values to store single boolean values. Like having a bazillion of 32-bit animated icons and shit in memory. Like having services running in the background, that optimize what would have no need for optimizing, weren’t it for those services running. Etc, etc, etc
Doesn’t this exist already in the US? It’s the laws that allows homeland security to deport you to Guantanamo. No phone call. No asking why. Nothing. Basically the laws of Gulags and KZs. (And at the same time Cheney’s company builds tons of new jails too.)
You can get the word out. (But beware to not act or sound like a crazy or raging person. They have to want to listen to you!) If you are relatively skilled in PR / politics / marketing / psychology / social engineering / etc, you can create a critical mass of people agreeing with you. They will then take care of things... the hard way.;)
Or you can go guerillia (= the best war strategy for minorities) and create a virus that lands on ACTA creator/supporter computers/sites, has a highly illegal payload (child porn, movies, secret documents, illegal books, etc), and then automatically tells the cops to go raid the house.
You can create, support, install and spread darknets to everyone.
You can move to a still free country. (Or create your own. [You wouldn’t be the first one!])
How about aquiring a list of those who created ACTA, and accusing them all of whatever.
But I think a new virus would be better. One that targets ACTA creators and their friends, and has a child porn payload. Then it automatically triggers a call to the cops. ^^

Write once — run nowhere. ;)
Not Antarctica! We’re way too cool for that shit! ^^

And I think, this will be the next big thing.
I only need :D
- a igniter
- a turbine
- a generator
Done.
Put it all in a box, and let’s say it’s... a... “fuel cell”. ;)
I would like to see a quantum physics approach to this. You know, acknowledging probabilities in measurements, quantization of state, etc.
Sure, you will have a plan. A contract too. And you will pay loads of cash.
But getting anything for it? Pshh.
General rule: There is always a term in your contract that states that you get nothing, when interpreted by one of their employees. ;)
The only recommendation I can make, if you want to live in the USA, is to found your own health insurance company. :)

Well, except for simulations! Like Operation Flashpoint and ArmA.

Thank you Captain Obvious! You always keep me so well informed! ^^
Then I noticed.
Incredible, how they managed to sneak Apple advertising even into this story!
There is more to the world than Apple. Most of the world does not give a shit.
What we give a shit about though, is ACTA. So keep your stupid advertising out of important topics!
