You think Comcast will send a guy out at midnight to fix your line? That's hilarious.
Municipal water and sewage systems are in fact quite complicated. Systems don't have to be comprised of racks of components with blinking lights to be complex.
We are talking about maintaining network infrastructure, wiring, fiber, power plus managing accounts and billing for service, customer equipment, shutting off those who don't pay and setting up new service for customers as they move in.
I work for a government institution that does all of that. It's not that hard. Yes, you have to hire some competent people. Beats getting bent over by Comcast.
...for a city with underutilized housing stock and severe unemployment. But New York is packed and not hurting for jobs, there's no reason for them to bend over backwards to attract investment.
I can't see this putting a dent in the bottom line of a company as huge as GM, the ebike market just isn't that big. Not that I'm not glad they're doing it, GM has some phenomenal talent and deep pockets, so they could really push the envelope for ebike performance.
Half the time my damn screen won't rotate, the other half it has a hair trigger, I'll barely move it and BAM it rotates. Crazy idea: incorporate a 1-second delay in the rotation, and create a neutral zone where no rotation happens. If I'm holding the phone at a 40 degree angle and it wobbles to 50 degrees I don't want it to rotate!
The Pro is only $100 more, Apple needs a lower price laptop. There's a few things they should have done:
Drop the Retina display. You don't need to cram a crapton of pixels into a 13" display.
Keep the old Air keyboard. It's perfectly cromulent, and doesn't come with Butterfly's crappy reputation.
Stop reaming your customers over storage. I can't find the base specs for the Air, but it's a pretty good bet the base SSD is 128 GB, same as the Pro. Upgrading to 256 costs $200. That's criminal. Just make 256 GB the base.
I've had 2 Airs and they're fine machines, and I'm happy to see Apple has finally shrunk the ridiculously huge bezel around the display. But they could have done better here.
...22% of those are under 18, so that leaves about 4.5 million. Figure at least half a million of those are too old or disabled to pay taxes, so that's about 4 million taxpayers. A $4.1 billion subsidy means Walker took over $1000 from each taxpayer and handed it to Foxconn. No wonder he doesn't want to talk about it.
That's often true, but not in this case. Nobody "buys" windows for features, they get it because it came installed on their computer and that's what they need to run their software. No one's going to switch from Mac or Linux because File Explorer offers dark mode.
But yeah, features are exciting and bug fixes are boring, so the suits want new features to brag about in their Powerpoints. Honestly, there's no reason MS can't do both. They're a huge company, they should be able to fix bugs and develop features at the same time. Problem is Windows is and always has been a huge mess, it needs to be modularized and compartmentalized.
If I were king I'd start with a clean sheet, make Win 11 as backward-compatible as possible without compromising design parameters. Recognize that many "features" are actually apps and keep them sandboxed from the OS. Keep doing bug fixes for Win10 for those that are depending on legacy software, but no new features.
yeah, I work at a large university, and we see that. Macs are fine, I own one, but if you need Windows to run the software your job requires....in god's name, why get a Mac? Also, Outlook for Mac is cancer.
"Helmets don't protect against concussions."
That's ridiculous. They don't prevent every concussion, true, but they are very effective. Not 100%, but then what is? I've twice flown over the handlebars and landed on my head, once with a helmet, once without. With a helmet, I caught my breath, dusted myself off, went on my way. Without a helmet, I was worthless. A passing motorist took me to the ER, saved my bike, and got me home, where I spent the rest of the day recovering.
Helmets work.
Scooters are significantly faster that bicycles and mingle with automobile traffic. That makes them more dangerous.
...yet they still seem to have a lot customers for new games. As long as games and hardware keep pushing the envelope, there's plenty of incentive to buy new games.

Didn't know prime had old TV series. Green Acres here I come!
if you're a basement dweller. It was kind of sketchy at first, but it's been solid for me for the past year.

Does the Google Fi wifi voice calling work if you're running Lineage?

If we're just going to live underground anyway, wouldn't it be a lot easier to create underground colonies on Earth?

Yeah, the bezel on my 11" Air is huge. On such a small screen, cutting down the bezel would increase screen real estate by a significant percentage.

Yes, or could be the CEO's options just got vested and he wants to juice the stock's price before cashing out bigly.
I've got a bad feeling about this.....
...with a windows phone. I know because my boss just bought one, and I got to set it up. Actually works pretty well, but not the best use of my time.
..using the app. You have log in via the web to change that setting.

So much this. Considering how badly they borked up the new version of Sticky Notes, I shudder to think what they'll do to Notepad.
...it took two Slashdot posts to cover it!
