This. I work in an enterprise that uses a lot of Microsoft products, but users insist on buying Macs. Then kvetch because things never work the way they're supposed to. I wish MS would just abandon the Mac, it would save everyone a lot of disappointment and aggravation.
Just look at the reviews on Apple's site, people hate it. Honestly, this is ridiculous. I have an 11-inch Air that has 2 usb, mag-safe, and mini-display port. If they can fit those ports on this machine, how hard can it be on 12-15 inch models? What's the benefit?
You're right about the Plaintalk terminology, and here I thought I could trust Google. It was still a PIA if you happened to have a few dozen Macs that needed headsets, and the cheapos that worked on most PCs didn't work on your Mac. ADC wasn't the Mac's first proprietary video plug, they used the HDI-45 in the 90s. Although not on many models, guess I just got lucky.
...with Apple and interfaces. Until recently, Macs always used proprietary video jacks (google Apple ADC), and before they got rid of the mic jack on Macs they used a proprietary jack/plug called Appletalk, yes the same name as their old network protocol, because why the hell not?
Interesting. I'm on my second Air, and have considered a Surface. But yeah, the Mac just works, pretty much flawlessly. And tethering to an iPhone is stupid-easy. I'll be moving to Android soon, hopefully that won't screw up tethering.
As someone who's occupied a number of dank, crappy offices, my condolences to those who get to report to work in the awesomest building on the planet....then slip beneath the earth's surface to their dank, windowless, crappy offices.
"There's no way for the government to set employee / employer agreements in such a way that everyone benefits. "
"Everyone" isn't supposed to benefit. The low-wage workers who were getting screwed out of their wages benefit. The employers who were screwing them lose. Not everything has be win-win to be worth doing.
I mostly agree with you, but I could see Tesla pretty much hand-building the first run of 3s to make sure they get it right. Unlike most car companies, they won't be under as much pressure to crank out as many as they can as quickly as possible. They can start slow then ramp up as they work out the kinks.
" Is anyone stupid enough to believe that you can even build the exact same sort of games for all different platforms, given their different form factors?"
Well, based on Windows 8, I'd have to say there's a few people at Microsoft who meet that description.
"early reviews of Facebook's Oculus Rift and HTC's Vive headsets have reduced non-gamers to tears."
What exactly is that implying? The headsets are so awesome that non-gamers will start gaming? They're so awesome non-gamers are crying because their gaming loved ones will spend all their time playing games again? Motion sickness? WTF?
Tesla is special. But that doesn't mean they're perfect. Everybody has recalls, this isn't a big deal. It's not like their motors or batteries are defective. It's a seat manufactured by a third-party vendor. Happens All. The. Time. Hopefully they'll learn and make their prototype testing more rigorous.
...Win 10 followed Win 8, possibly the worst-received OS that MS ever released...yes, I'm including WinME in that. Everybody running 8 was more than ready to move to 10.
I work at one of the universities that got "hacked". We do have NAT--any university that hands out thousands of IPs to student devices connecting over wireless has NAT--but we also have tons of legacy systems and admins who can't be bothered to lock things down properly. Hopefully this gave some of them a kick in the ass.

Good points, I'll have to check them out. Not that I'll be buying another laptop anytime soon.

Sure, we could, but what fun would that be?
Really with my Intellipoint 5-button mouse worked in Win 10. Thanks MS!

Dang it. I'm about ready to retire my old phone, and Motorola was on my short list. Thanks Obama!

Medical marijuana was legal in 13 states during the Bush administration, but I'm sure you pointed out what a scofflaw he was too.
Presumably the city has phone lines, so the phone company can offer DSL. Satellite is an option. And there are wireless ISPs.

Aluminum refining is energy intensive. Recycling, not so much. Recycling scrap aluminium requires only 5% of the energy used to make new aluminum.
Mandatory Oatmeal link.

My bad. Free for Win 7 users too.
It's free if you're running Win 8. Vista and older have to pay.

Didn't think about in-flight refueling, but man, that would have to jack up ticket prices a lot. Probably not going to happen.
