If the files were posted by someone who did not have the authorization to post them (prove it), then you have no legal right to distribute them (again, prove it), because that person had no right to place the files under the GPL(why does this person work for you? why do they have access to your sourcecode and your website? and is granting access to the full sourcetree and build system the equivalent of giving publishing rights). Of course, we have no way of knowing if that's what really happened(and most certainly it isn't), but I'd still be very hesitant to publish the files until someone with the standing to do so weighs in on the issue (Any FSF lawyers reading this?).
just for kicks, 2mbit.com is hosted on my cablemodem. (the link which shows the mirrors hosting the pictures of ralsky's house). I'd like to thank the committee and everyone who made the slashdotting of my cablemodem possible. I hope they don't can my account, but if they do it's been nice knowing you.
I am not really on oftc in any official capacity, I am watching it, as my background in coming to openprojects is ircd's and irc networks, I am actually working on my own network which I hinted to in my first post. at risk of spamming, a crime any irc network administrator should be shot for, (I just feel safe that I'll see an shoot you before you can get me) I'm on irc.xiph.org, and my answer to WOPN will be forthcoming, bigger and better. someone remind me to delete this nick so I quit posting from it:)
About 2 months ago I was on OPN staff, about two months ago, I cared. I started WOPN, and frankly without me, OPN (or free whatever it is) would still be just an irc network without me. It is my impression you'll shortly see advertisements (or at least friendly plugs (which I have seen other dj's do)). I quit both the semi-official staff position I had (of course lilo gives noone real power) and left the radio station. After an argument with one of the more dense opers on the network, I created my own server and the xiph foundation and I moved to another network. The opn at the end of this name is a relic and this name will NEVER be used again to post.
At the risk of being accused of having an "anger management issue" or being a "Troll" I say this. Anyone who stays on opn needs to conduct a serious reality check. THIS IS NOT FREEDOM ANYMORE. THIS IS A FORCED OPPRESSION. MOVE!

Ask dimitri, I believe he would have an interesting commentary on this, or the russian government which has issued a moratorium on travel from russia to the united states for programmers due to fears of similar breaches of freedom.
I drive a 1974 porsche 914. There's about 100000 of these in the world (roughly the amount of computers that exist faster than mine http://www.trelane.net/computer.html (btw it's not a ti200 anymore it's a ti4200 expect that to be changed today). I recently dropped the tranny, and replaced the notoriously poor 901 transmission synchros for first gear, had the first to reverse coupling machined down to eliminate a wear groove in the coupling. Then I and a friend hoisted the thing back in and changed the oil/filter. anyone wanting to talk about the design of the 914, and it's flaws, like any CUI (Car user environment) feel free to let me know, I can go on in detail, well until my car blows up because the fuel line from the pump to the JetTronic Fuel Injector is above the passenger side heat exchanger.

it's interesting how everything works in circles, 20 years ago everyone had dumb terminals using a central unix server, well here we are again, ain't life grand? A butterfly flaps it's wings, and sun switches to dummy terminals, it's really really profound when you think about it.
please moderate the parent down, a much better version of this, (which he is referring to the CIPA crap) is located here:A HREF=" http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/02/05/31/14232 19.shtml ?tid=123"
I have the koolance pc2-601 which is a modified "antec" case, in actually neither company makes these cases. A few suggestions: first I have dropped 90mm fans in every spot that would support them, and perhaps dust does enter the case but after 4 months solid running there is not a TRACE of dust anywhere in the box. Frankly with good aiflow dust should NEVER be an issue, and again after the time in a dusty carpeted room I feel I could eat off the case. A view of my ENTIRE system, from top to bottom is available at my box, and pretty much will give you a good indication of what I'm running.
again the key to lack of dust is proper airflow, if you have that you won't have dust. Anyone with questions about building with anything I used can also feel free to e-mail me, and I'll answer as I get time. Rolling your own is a very rewarding experience.

I had a guy come in a few weeks ago building a simulator for some large airplane or other, and he was upgrading the system from CRT to flatpanel, we ended up helping him out of the store with 10k in flatpanels, and he said he'd let us test it out when he got it rigged up, (SCORE!) I had pictures of the setup, and it was pretty damn impressive, so I lost them, sorry all.
There's already a subscription available for Star Office, and functional packages, it integrates nicely, and I downloaded it today when I went to work. Adds an icon and everything. I'm almost afraid linux will become easy... but then galeon stopped working so no worries, apparently teh mozilla-libs update thrashed everything:) so off I go to fix that

I used to work for them, they're just dropping sco openserver, it will perhaps make it more stable, but the store POS controllers are ibm propriatary CRAP. The cdrw they backup on is so antiquated it came in a case that is slid into the drive. all in all those boxen will still be sad with linux on them. save the money to switch over, buy better hardware THEN run linux on it. anyways sco is crap, and that's my two cents for the day
I have to side with intel in this, and here is why. If it's found that "no real damage" = no case, then trojan horses, if used only to snoop around a system, passive packet sniffing and capturing, and other such activities that compromise privacy of our systems, but do no actual damage TO those systems will be legal, although we'd like to think people can use whatever resources they want, I run a secure linux box for a reason, and for the others that do the same, think about why you do.
This story really should have been posted with a blowfish icon. BSD != daemon... FreeBSD = daemon, when a user comments on the release art, please check it first, thus you might achieve accuracy, which is zen.

Sorry Mac Boy but you're dreaming... OS X isn't the new rapid deployment server platform simply because it has Apple's name on it. Interesting statement, now I shall defent it A: noone ever got fired for choosing microsoft and intel (shitty as this is it still holds true. B: Apple has a bad reputation in the corporate world, and a very well known reputation for releasing a product and just as quickly pulling it. (*cough*Newton*cough*) C: Darwin is NOT stable, and apple's development policies reguarding it, including dropping the kid that fixed the gaping ppp problem is senseless. D: More mature solutions, Solaris, BSD, Linux Windows exist (in order of appearance as a server hosting environment chronologically) and frankly I doubt OS-X will catch on a server environment.
now that that's said. OS-X server will be nice for graphics devel/video/photographic editing and effects clustering. Small and out of the way 3 or 4 of these will calmly sit in a smallish rack under someone's desk. I don't think webserving is in apple's future, and really feel apple's decided that now that they've had some success it's time to shoot themselves in the foot again. this is just apple's way of cocking the pistol to fire the shot.
further, if these people not only advertise but provide Solutions for these companies that means dosh in the bank. Providing solutions makes linux companies money, yes they do package and sell the software, and frankly can charge whatever they want for it, (before flaming me, please take the time and the intelligence to read the GPL, I know you're all capable of it) but in the end corporate linux solutions are what put companies in the black, and keep them there. and frankly corporate linux solutions, or lack thereof is what's putting other distributions, particularly the french one, out of business.
I own a manufactured liquid cooled case. The performance is excellent and at 350 wtih powersupply, was really fairly reasonable. If you're interested in liquid cooling the case has performed in a superb manner. (keeping the 2000+ sitting it it at around 120f. When I get the new 200w cooling unit I expect it to drop even lower, as the fluid temp is still only 10f above room temp.
In answer to the obvious question, no I'm not planning on overclocking, because unlocking the palamino clock is too much trouble.
for those interested in the case I purchased it can be found at Koolance
I got the 602 which is a modded antec case, that antec claims is a soho fileserver case.
