I believe an above poster has stated Homeworld2 was good, however I want to second that. I've been playing it recently and I've found it quite an amazing game, it's a 100% 3D Space RTS that's challenging and fun to micromanage. Sending squads of units through hyperspace to help your comrades is very entertaining.
Since this latest generation of consoles came out, I have a GameCube that collects large amount of dust, and my friend's Xbox would be collecting dust if I was still borrowing it from him.
One reason I simply hate consoles is controllers are usually much to annoying to mess with, keyboard and mouse is usually better for any game in my perspective, but GREATLY excelling in the first person shooter genre.
Another reason consoles are not preferred by me is the lack of options most games have: Sensitivity, complete customization of controls, etc. Playing a first person shooter where you turn around at 1/3rd of the rate that you can on the PC by twitching your mouse just slightly gets on my nerves. It makes games basically "If he comes up behind you you're dead."
Anyway, enough rambling and I'm sleep deprived so if none of this makes sense don't kill me.
As I said last Interplay post, Interplay is going under because they abandoned Descent, the best shooter game ever;)
While that probably isn't true, I'm going to stay hold of that belief as I'm in the Descent religion.
Apparently you're just a moron who can't comprehend Star Trek, therefore you diss it. It's as simple as that. If you actually didn't like it, I would suspect you just might happen to have a better, more intelligent sounding response, but I think it's actually above your grade level:)
I wasn't trying to make fun of Descent 3, but what I'm trying to say is that most hardcore Descent players I knew on Kali and Kahn (if you people remember those) were pretty bored of it, and we had a nice Descent 2 community going. I remember my lifelong dream to join the Descent-Rangers...ahh the good old days.
If it had not been for Descent, where would Interplay be today? They might still be here, they might not. All I know is that they were good with some kick arse games like Descent and Descent II, but when they published a crap game like Descent 3, well, yeah. Descent 3 was a halfway decent game but it lacked Descent-ness, if I may call it that.
Did Interplay even publish Freespace and Freespace 2? I never played Freespace 2, but I was a Freespace fan and it was a good game too.
If Interplay wants to save themselves, they need to talk someone into, namely Volition or whatever the other split of Parallax software was, to try and develop a good Descent IV and maybe another Freespace game? Those were great, and I think that's the entire reason Interplay ever became as well-known as they are.
I don't really care for this guy's article, while he seems to be telling what he thinks is wrong with MMORPGs, and it is true, his recommendations aren't what I would recommend for a few.
Take my latest MMORPG that's a non-beta, Star Wars Galaxies. His recommendation is to provide the Space Expansion to be perfect. That's not the case, because if so then the original game where you're still going to spend a minimum of 40% of your time is STILL going to be screwed over. Too many people can become Jedi, the Galactic Civil War is still overpopulated with Rebels, PvP is completely screwed up, the economy needs fixing, etc.
When you get rid of people like Spock and Data, the series completely flops. Nobody in any of the new series are anything like Data, and even though Data was great, he was nothing compared to Spock. Bring back Spock, or someone very similar to him or Data, and you've got a series:D
Oh yes, and the typical knowitall Captain who sometimes is okay, but usually requires the council of the Spock-type figure.
I'm not completely sure this ever happens, but what if one or two of the top ten awards ended up having that game cancelled? I'm guessing that probably won't happen as the developer figures they'll make money on it, but what about all those other "moneymaking" games that got cancelled, a few were on IGN's article the other day about mysteriously disappearing games, and other games too like Interplay and Volition's supposed Descent IV, etc.
Usually I don't respond to an article in two sections, but I see your point. I watch TV and usually it's nothing but mindless garbage that never causes you to think ahead. It requires no skill, no thought process, nothing. You just sit and watch reality shows that never would happen...etc. I rarely watch television anymore, it's so boring.
I spend on average 5 to 6 hours a day playing Star Wars Galaxies, and while it isn't the best game ever I run a player association with about 100 people. The interaction is usually quite fun.
Galaxies gave away "Wookie Life Day Orbs" for Wookie Life Day in City Halls (I'm mayor of Apollyon, Lok on Corbantis server) to give to citizens.
Aside from that, we get a 7 day "buddy key" to let friends try Galaxies, and also everyoen got one or two free Jedi Holocrons.
Sonic was my first console game to ever play back in the days of the Genesis, still love Sonic to this very day. Can't wait for Sonic Heroes on the GameCube next year:)
...it was worse than I orgininally planned it to be. Sonic-N or whatever it's called is just a Sonic Advance ripoff, maybe some differences but not many for the ten minutes I played it. The thing has the worst controls ever, and if you aren't watching where you're playing your hand you're going to start hitting buttons that don't control the game. It's poorly designed,/probably/ hogs batteries although I can't confirm that, and just...ugh.
Wasn't Half Life 2 the game that was rumored to be an nVidia-only game? I thought nVidia wanted to do that to strike back at ATI but of course it didn't fall through.

I do have a suggestion about the bullet time...if Neo is the only one who can dodge bullets and nobody else can then there is no need for a bullet time...problem solved.
I'm a huge Sonic fan...I can't wait for more Sonic goodness! It's going to be odd seeing a Sonic game not only be on a Nintendo console but also on two other ones...I'm sad that Sega doesn't make consoles anymore...but hey, it was making them lose money so...yeah.
Why thank you. There is no complete proof to say that the world is 6,000 is 4.5 billion years old. I believe it is 6,000, but neither theory can be completely proved and never will be until God comes down and tells us.
6,000 is a lot more reasonable sounding to me.
And in regards to the article, yes, evolution takes another blow:)

I use the 'bowtie' technique to tie my shoes...normally I must double tie it but my shoelaces are long enough...
No, it hasn't, and it never will. We /cannot/ create a life form.
