Yes but the cable would be vulnerable to windstorms and trees. Fiber splicing isn't as simple as splicing wires. Kind of hard to get a clean contaminate free splice in a rain storm. Also each splice has to be checked to make sure it is good as bad splices effect transmission quality. After a big windstorm it could take months to get all the cable back in service.

My rule is never pay more then $100 for a piece of hardware. Sure I live about a year behind but I dont seem to notice. Never ran across a game I couldn't play yet due to hardware being outdated.

HF is the chemical which causes your bones to dissolve as it attacks calcium. Scariest thing is you can get it on you and not notice until it hurts like hell several hours later. I have worked with this daily for 8 years and have never had an incident. Although this is one of the few chemicals in the fab that I am still really cautious about when handling. Silane is reactive as soon as it hits oxygen it catches on fire. Not really that bad to deal with.

Typical California attitude. If its broken government will save us. My DSL will now wind up costing even more since I have to support some PUC program to regulate DSL. I have never lived in a state with so many special programs that so few benefit from. This state bends you over the table and rapes you in the ass every chance it can get. I am more afraid of CA state government then SBC. Most of CA power problems were due to government intervention in the first place. It is unfair to call CA power deregulated as the main problem was with the regulation. Bottom line never look to CA for solutions its just one big government mess. Only place I have ever lived where I pay $1700/month for rent to live next to a welfare recipiant because some dumbass thinks its unfair for the poor to not to live in luxury housing.
