  1. Squeegee Your Third Eye on Macaque Monkey Goes Totally Bipedal · · Score: 1

First, let me make the recommendation that all creationist Christians read "The DaVinci Code", take some mushrooms and squeegee your third fuckin' eye.

    • The religion started by Jesus of Nazareth is currently not-at-all Christ-like. It has evolved (or was created, if you'd prefer) as nothing more than a power system which has influence with governments due to its large membership.

Christ was a teenage rebel who was assigned (by Jewish tradition) to marry. He chose a life of spirituality. He hitchhiked to India, learned Hindu philosophy, then returned to his homeland and began preaching to the masses.

The masses liked his message and began following him. When he had sufficient followers, the local gov't became aware of him. That continued until Rome became aware of him, Pontius did not like the fact he was amassing power and had him killed.

Long story short...Jesus modified Hindu philosophy and his teachings are now called Christianity. Do some comparative research between religions and you'll notice they all essentially teach the some lessons using different words.

There! That point has been handled.

The stories of "The Creation Of The Universe" are mostly modifications of older stories by the Catholic Church which were borrowed from earlier religions. (Hmmm...lessee, Judaism was born in the same area and is older... Good Guess.)

Jump forward two thousand years to Darwin noticing what are "evolutionary" changes in some species living on the Canary Islands in the South Pacific. Combine this with things like Mengelian genetics, etc. and a flap develops about the concept that we all came from monkeys. The monkeys who ran the newspapers had a field day about this.

Jump forward about a dozen decades and we now have a monkey in the Whitehouse. I think it is now proven that species can attain a higher position without evolving.

  2. 3 Laws of (Pragmatic) Robotics on I, Robot Hits the Theaters · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think all of you ./ed intellectuals need to step off your "3 Laws" stool, take off your Philosphical Inquiry Hat, and join humanity.

Humanity exists in a pragmatic world of actions and reactions.

You could state the Law in question instead as:

"A robot shall not allow the immediate consequence of any action to harm a human."

    • No, a robot could not hit its owner.
Yes, it could be eletronically-pissed and kick the dog.

    • No, a robot could not kill a human with a machine gun (The Terminator).
Yes, it could watch a human being gunned down.

By removing the possibility of a human being physically harmed by a robot,
we are a step closer to Wil Smith and Nirvana. Just don't get drunk and stagger near a
cliff edge, because they have no need to preserve human life -- only to not harm human life.

This appears to side-step any philosophical trickery that would allow a robot to harm a human.
While not perfect, this pragmatic view would allow for a functioning world where robots
    are viewed as helpful companions.

Similar to the real world where you can't rely on a bystander to help if you're mugged!

While this line of thought may be anaesthetized, dissected, and its steaming entrails used for origami demonstration
(had to force that metaphor), all thought and replies and most welcome.

    • Go back to sleep America, your government is in control.

The president is only a tool of a mouthpiece who is appointed by the ruling corporations in our society. They are given a certain amount of power for 4 or 8 years, thrown into the Retired Presidents Club (RPC), and pampered for the rest of their lives (with given book deals, speaking engagements, etc.)

We members of the honorable Peon Club must learn how to maneuver within the system. Those that do so are the same people you see on Oprah signing books after the show.

My favorite method of the moment is to operate within the guise of a Corporation so that I pay the gov't less taxes. Amazon.com has many books on this subject.

The book "Gravity Is A Pull" by W. Wright should be required reading in this subject. Several documented facts, such as fossil evidence, are analyzed to produce a theory of magnetic instability.

Essentially, every few aeons, the Earth wil change its angle of rotation. Atlantis is located on the continent of Antartica. It was a paradise when it was an equatorial country.

When the magnetic field has reached a minimum it will then reverse itself. We do not know how the earth will rotate when such an event occurs.

The axis of rotation is still essentially perpindicular to the solar system. The Earth itself has changed how it rotates and will have a new equator, the poles will be located elsewhere, etc.

People should stop attacking this media excerpt from Michael Moore's mind as an opinionated, 100-minute political attack ad.

They should begin to form a cogent and socially-acceptable response to the questions he raises during the course of the film.

I watched "Bowling For Columbine" yesterday and was impressed with Moore's production values. Near the end of the movie, where he converses with Charlton Heston of the NRA, is particularly illustrative of the point of his work. He asks Heston why he defends gun ownership when six year-old child can enter a classroom and gun down another six year-old child. Heston walked away at that point and I believe I know why.

Michael Moore's film was only illustrative of negative consequences of the Freedoms this country gives to it's citizens (2nd Amendment in this case). Those freedoms exist because they were chosen by the Founders of this country. Negative events sometimes occur with the freedoms we enjoy but we cannot be mired in the past. As a country we must accept the bad with the good if we are to remain free. Bush does not see this and is blinded by money and power.

What Moore presenting in this current movie, "Fahrenheit 9/11", is only information about how our basic freedoms are being curtailed by people in Power. These people also have suspicious connections to the the events of September 11, 2001. No matter your opinion on the issues he raises, ask yourself one question. Can you objectively answer the questions he raises and not resort to ad hominem attacks or questioning of his information?

Michael Moore is a film-maker. If you find yourself with only question after seeing this movie, he has made a good film.
