If you want to see what happens when you don't fight the Customer see Google. Even though most of Google's revenue is from advertising, without the people using their tools then they would not make any money so the people using their tools need to be considered Customers.
someone would just hack the steam client if they turned off the authentication. Not as easy to do on a console as xbox owners are getting ready to find out.
largely as a result of continued incidents like this. People use to say they could just set up a console and use it are now having to deal with real quality issues and vendor lock-in problems are realizing it is not actually such a great deal.
They could have released a server so people could set up their own if they wanted to continue to use it. This is why vendor lock-in on consoles sucks in the first place.
I view Steam as more of a service. It is not pure DRM, they give you something of value to you in return. You can download and play your games on any machine you like, all you have to do is remember your username and password. So you let them manage all your games and they make it convenient. It is a decent trade, where as regular DRM treats you like a criminal, makes it really inconvenient, and gives you nothing of value to you for your trouble. No wonder regular DRM is stripped from games.
I expect that the main motive in these drones is some company making a profit. Crime did not drop with CCTV cameras so all they really accomplish it to make a couple of people who were already rich, richer.
The problem is there are just not the plugins for other browsers. Even though some folks are obsessing over rendering times, the extensions add to block flash, malware, adblock, etc make Firefox faster and the web more usable for me.
Banks were suppose to self regulate after deregulation, but look how that turned out with the bank bailout. It is reasonable to have an independent third party make sure telecoms are truly neutral with their networks. Net Neutrality needs to pass.
Big telecom knows their position is indefensible and that people do not want private corporations to take over the internet. Net Neutrality needs to pass to prevent them from waiting a couple years to try an internet take over again (ie horrible packages like cable tv channels, throttling, and unwanted re-direction of connections).
Yes, Starblazers would be awesome. Kind of reminds me when I discovered that Robotech was actually a collection of three anime series. There is a lot of rich story to work with there in a number of those shows.
they should focus on content delivery. Hooking your TV up to the internet and making it easy to find content is a way to differentiate your hardware and sell it at a premium.
You do not see stories like this worrying about TV and it is all supported by advertising.
This is my initial move to not using Microsoft Operating Systems at all.

and if they do that I would only expect US based hosts to suffer.

Seems like there are a lot of more important ones that should get priority.

And am seeing more and more people change their decisions as they are impacted by DRM on software they actually purchased, but can no longer use.
actually, Lincoln was the patriot

get the Ghostery plugin for firefox. That stops some poorly written javascript from running in the first place.

the test of time has shown Hillary Rosen to be just as stupid as then
sales. You cannot resell all the hardware if the standard does not change. Who ever is pushing the cable change has just gotten better at it.
meh, people using only unicorn horn? I am using a whole unicorn and the colors smell fantastic.
your going to use Microsoft as an example of what to do with security? haha, that is funny.

Avatar gave me a headache, the 3D felt gimicky, and was distracting. I would never watch another 3D film after that experience.
