  1. Re:Warhammer on On Transitioning To an Asian-Style MMO, Such As Aion · · Score: 1

Warhammer sucked. Just trying to log in and log out was a chore. You would think that at least they could get that right. WOW was one click to log off. Warhammer was a series of click and a giant pain in the ass. I guess they though that you would some how play longer, but instead of watching the stupid splash screen for the 1000th time, most people choose to never login again.

  2. Unfortunately Microsoft already in death spiral on Chrome OS Designed To Start Microsoft Death Spiral · · Score: -1, Flamebait

With their changing focus mid way through XP from the end users of their products to a marketing strategy (crap ware for movie and music and everyone besides the person using the computer) they have alienated developers and people don't want to deal with their product. That has set them up for everyone to jump ship at the first chance they get and that is exactly what is happening. Google's strategy did not start this.

And this is where Blizzard has completely mis-calculated. Instead of providing an expected feature (local LAN play), they are trying to force everyone to use battle.net, which a lot of people do not want to do. I expect this missing feature will be hacked in days after release and instead of Blizzard having a chance at a sale, people are going to download the LAN enabled version for free. Bad move by Blizzard, hope their shareholders are paying attention.

P2P is not a hardware. And if they are dumb enough to try and block it, a new shiny software package will probably be out the same day works around any restriction. It would be an arms race that the ISP is hopelessly out matched and resourced to try and win.

EVE PVP is a social game. You have to play with others in order to do well at it. And you don't need lots of skills to do that, you need lots of people on your side. (and that also makes it more fun)

They are expensive and come up with this kind of stuff that is hurting their business. And stop asking for phone numbers, I stopped going just because of that and drive to Fry's even though it is a long way from me.

My thinking is that you can use hydrogen as a renewable fuel. Instead of trying to get batteries, that cause huge amount of pollution when they are made, to magically do something they are never going to be able to do (recharge in 5 min without being dangerous) spend that effort to make electricity. If a hydrogen infrastructure was in place, you can take advantage of green technology and better methods of making electricity as they become available without having to replace every hydrogen car on the road. At the rate of progress with electric vehicles, you will need two cars to use one (unless you never travel more than 200 miles) and that is just not realistic.
