You tend to only remember the games that were really good, but I agree that lately the new games have left alot to be desired.
I have gone back to ones that I really enjoyed. Just loaded Fallout back on my machine, and Jagged Alliance 2 still rocks after all these years. Started playing these again, even though I just got a bunch of new games that in my opinion blow.
Actually that is not a bad analogy. Everyone pays when a Micr0$oft virus is successful, but if the company that produces the item is to be held responsible for it when it is used badly then Micr0$oft should be bearing the financial burdern of a successful virus. Still, I would vote for a no to Apple IPod tax, and a no to a Microsoft tax for that matter. To bad things are not more consistent.
You also have to consider taxes, mortgage insurance, and other costs. That adds up in a hurry to as much as rent would. I think owning a house is more of a life style decision, it has not been cheaper for me.
The movie industry was worried that no one would go to the movies when VCR's came out. People still go because they like the experience.
There is something about a full sized arcade game that does the same thing for me.
I was going to comment only about his one, but it is hard to beat a comment when someone has created a scientific theory in their answer.
-- I believe all computer peripherals and devices are hot-swappable unless someone else is around.
What, is this Schrodinger's Computer? Once, I closed my eyes and with no one else watching, I jammed an old PCI Voodoo card into the AGP slot with the machine still running. The damn thing worked until I opened my eyes and its wave function collapsed...
Cheaper...
Get the minimum package and never answer that phone, but give it out to anyone that asks for it. Only the real calls will leave messages.
less than 20 bucks a month
The problem with this approach is that it is driven by money and does not have any zealots driving the technology.
Firebird is starting to take market share from Internet Explorer because it is developed by zealots. Linux, same story.
I would be surprised if this goes anywhere. Tell me what the people who spend all their time doing this for fun are doing, like Tivo and MythTV.

Yahoo Day 1: Wow what a great technology we have developed. Yahoo Day 2: Hello foot. *Bam* (what was that)...

If there are 100,000 Linux servers and 5,000 windows servers, Linux servers look pretty good.
also a good site for new bands is 3wk.com
...especially of the laser or explosion variety
I have built the same type of GUI's with Perl/Tk, but it suffers from being slow, so I am switching to a pre-compiled library, QT

Think of the advancement this will mean to the Black Velvet Elvis Painting Industry
I agree. I build on multiple platforms for a CAD system and use one set of perl code for all of them. Use ansi c for the heavy stuff. Works great
