  1. Tribes Arial Assault on Should Online Console Games Have Dedicated Servers? · · Score: 1
There's actually a player made server (AADS) for Tribes:AA that runs on a PC. it actually fixes a lot of the bugs in the game, too.

This sort of thing really isn't a tricky thing for console game makers to do; they just don't want to let the players have that much control over the server environment.

And if you don't buy one, they don't recoup $200, so it's like stealing $400 from MS! And, there's the added bonus of game companies not seeing another sale on that ledger, so they're less likely to make games for the Xbox (which gives MS money thanks to liscensing fees)! Wow, not buying one is like stealing $400,/I. from MS!

God, did you do losts of or were you just born this stupid?

First, it's a "Republic." Get your terms right.

Secondly, the Senators/Congressman are elected by the people. Therefore, they are representatives of what they think the people want. If you don't like it, elect someone else. If you re-elect them, then you've just said "Hey, great job last term! Have another!"

That's how it works. And if the people petition their new representative to have the law overturned, it can be. Nothing's set in stone.

  6. Steel Battalion/Steel Battalion: Line of Contact on Do Videogames Need More Graphical Grit? · · Score: 1
You want gritty, realistic graphics? Take a peek at Steel Battalion. The presentation of the game is very gritty and realistic. The game's developers really worked hard on the presentation of the game, and it shows. The game uses filters to great effect, and the results of their labor are amazing. You can also check out some of the videos of the first and second games in action; you'll be amazed by the use of shaders and filters to create a realistic, true to life scene of futuristic combat (wow, that's an oxymoron).

And of course, I haven't even talked about the fourty button controller. You want realism and grit? SB and SB:LoC have it in spades, along with unblievable gameplay and an awesome community to boot.

If someone wrote that into the GPL, no one would ever use it. Also note if I own the copyright, I can do whatever the hell I want to the code. I can make it "Only I can use it suck off" liscensed. And the liscense I put on something I make can't stop me from changing said liscense. It's my work, and I can do whatever the hell I want with it.

The GPL merely stops other people from taking your work and then making it closed source. It doesn't stop the owner of the work from making it closed source, and legally it cannot do that.
